Quiet let's go to Phil Rodgers wheel house that Dan Haren failed trade with the LA Angels of Anaheim. And the Cubs what. Exactly happened because. We started here reports late on Friday that this deal would get done and Carlos Marmol telling media in the Dominican yep I'm one of the NL Angel. Next thing we know nothing. Well I think -- out. Premature of that I -- I think think the Cubs head up ahead of Marmol but give getting permission from the trade. Because of his no trade look list. And then you know it the word got out there and there was no deal and you know if you're gonna do Dan Herron for Carlos Marmol that's not an even trade yeah. And so the Cubs are gonna have to put something else in to that trade and you know I think what the Angels were asking for was always more than the Cubs. Want to -- All else I know why would you say that's not an even trade you got a guy that we're not an even trade a lot of bad reliever and a starter who have won half of a bad -- yet. Who's -- got fifteen and a half million dollars so they're looking to move them money he had a back issue and his velocity went from ninety Florida 88. Right he had a lot of questions there in the second half of the year he was much better than he was in the first half when the back issue. You know cut in those velocity and you know -- there. You know we really don't know where broke down but that's my thought is -- broke down because the Angels won more than the Cubs were willing to give up and the Cubs pulled a -- -- got nothing. There's introductory options so they get some free agent. He's a free agent. So and they don't have Carlos Marmol all right so you don't they're not paying job here everybody. You know they pay the buy out today and haren but they still have all that flexibility that I'm -- glad that I. I thought you were involved -- the reason the trade didn't get you know -- because -- just sort of -- between got something earlier now I tweed hat you know it's not a done and everyone else to touch that it was done. And I said it was not heard about this fall apart Friday night I was sure you were involved -- a bit early. Now I think this is the Cubs trading for somebody so they who is a better piece to trade. I don't know how excited we should get or shouldn't get because it wasn't like there were going after the guy that they think is going to be part of their core pretty going to be here for more than six months. Right -- glue -- -- thought of being more tradable so he was appealing. Well he's he's 31 so he doesn't fit their demographics but the -- they have a chance. You know let's take somebody for a test drive and then they can decide if you know it does this guy have. 34 or five years of good pitching laughter and that at that point you know they could go a lot of ties to an extension I don't think they're gonna trade form then signed an extension. Coming off of the year when he was 5050 between being as effective as normal. Eddie your right you know I think it probably is the guy they were gonna pick up like Paul Maholm last year signed as a free -- and graded. But you know I. At some point and I don't think you're there and I don't really think they'll be there next July but at some point good -- a start looking in to replace. -- also and they -- it's kind of equivalent open house you know just -- -- house to sell it -- -- -- anybody really doesn't. Then you know again anywhere more than you do with the ball you sit back get anywhere what if you're able -- Dan Haren got a really elite prospect form. Because he's rolling along in the deadline -- value at that then but it doesn't really I mean. Did too good to overreact to this because it didn't happen I don't know what the next step was hurt -- it was going to be so I think it's hard to evaluate. What they're missing out -- you don't you know how do you know what they're missing out you don't really into the starting rotation you know -- what can we expect to Broward and that album. Shaun Marcum as a free agent that has appealed to him Brandon McCarthy in a couple times and has appealed to him. These are guys I think you know -- -- card that. Next White Sox yeah treasure. You think he fractured skull fractures sole member that's we hero last summer without regard and he's he's quite the Twitter these problems. I think now here we need somebody hit -- I mean. He he lets hear and he's he's very good at the you know I like your wonder what the White Sox -- they traded for John Danks turned -- -- you know maybe the best straight here he's made. But McCarthy got hurt and I you know it took him awhile to really achieve it and you know I think part of what I think that tweeting in a way does appeal to the Cubs front office because. Your profile you shouldn't all of you know. I don't recommend many guys to follow but I'll definitely recommend Brandon McCarthy because he's Smart -- -- and it's all based baseball stuff that society stuff. It's good but hey -- guy he's an intelligent guy and he's figured out a way to use this intelligence. To become a better pitcher in if they sign him. Would he be a guy that you look at three to four years and that's just a guy you flip has to use at the peace -- -- -- fractured skull might change things he was hitting toward I think there are 45 year contract as one of the top free agents in this market now may be you have to let him get his sea legs under immense make sure that he's okay. And maybe takes a one year deal to then go back in the market after the year.
