Baseball's owners meetings wrapped up today I'll -- O'Hare airport commissioner Bud Selig spoke of course. The big topic the fire sale trade to Miami Marlins agreed to on Tuesday Nicholas. It actually officially hasn't been presented to question members from restart there. There are physicals going. And when I would see the -- Today is that -- Have this entire matter under. Thorough review. And that's as much -- to my character to baseball people have actually. A lot of people that I shared with Clark who. Actually you interesting view and his trade they think that the Florida -- -- -- -- young players did very well. It is under review and we'll. We're where I am aware of being there I am I'm also no where than in Toronto there's there are very happy. I thought I'd I thought as the commissioner just comment that I when he wasn't gonna comment please -- can block this think feel and if you think about it. It may be Jeffrey Loria deserves to be punished for one of the flu cases and and they're taken up 160. Million dollars in salary giving up. Three of their top eight prospects to make this deal why do you punish them just me just because -- is this kind of playing with the rules. Yeah and I I can -- not. See any reason why commissioner really via Patriot mean to me it's just too and he's operating. It is within the rules not breaking any rules spiked by trading one guy for -- -- You're -- break -- salary -- about an artist salary cap rules and any other league it's. I don't know guys from the free. Get in the way T do it for whatever the good of the game might be and you know once the Florida Marlins games last year. Jeffrey Loria might be the worst owner in the history of sports but. This is the deal two teams decided to come to. And this is what the Dodgers and Red Sox did at the deadline saying thank you feel your somebody's mad in Florida because. He went to the City Council said the -- this stadium. You give me the financial ability try to put a winner on the field so they build him the stadium. That would debt service it'll be over two billion dollars. And now less than twelve months later he blows and all. In counter argument that he would make which you don't have the -- is that we could we spent all this money we put this these great players on the field and you guys didn't come watch the teams so why should we do that again they didn't mean it. No -- went there and they were bad they were bad but. No -- went to the game so it. I think he's terrible owner penny and he's obviously a con man and at some levels terms how he got the stadium but again I mean. Did they spend money to work and -- -- -- you know. Dump it -- he and I don't know that the Red Sox analogy is -- reason -- no -- to go there that they unloaded three bad free agent contracts and they're gonna spend that money anyway. This guy dumped his entire team except for Stan has been going on since June. And so right now I think there's probably a lot more outrage about this in a roadside. I don't forget there's some bad contracts in this deal here -- Mark -- another forty million they Jose Reyes another. Goodness who knows how much and you're gonna pay Josh Johnson who's been. Mega money that we knows how much of the do we I don't know how much Toronto is ready to those contracts. I'm the report just taken -- that's what I thought got so. So why would we fallen to me that's good business for Jeffrey -- if he gets away with a he has on the books committed and dollars after this coming season. Exactly zero he has never won a guy like contract after the season stand. Note that he's he owns his rights but he does not have a contract of so no long term deals laughed so he's fiscally cleaned up his books and -- let's get to the Cubs go askew as the season ticket holder. Get excited Scott Baker today and get Dioner Navarro. Catcher they're gonna sign a couple more pitchers and with the intention fully. -- flipping them at the deadline then if Scott Baker sits there at. Twelve and three at the break he's getting traded and are most likely. Are you cool with that. I am if the team is twenty or thirty games under 500 when they do it. If there's somehow contending which I know is gonna happen. But if if -- a race that I got a huge problem with that good but this is obviously part of their strategy to restock their farm system as quickly as they can. That's not a bad strategy as long as you're not cheating the fans I don't see -- your team the fans are these guys anyway. Yeah I mean you've been pretty upfront about it right I mean the thing comes fans aren't stupid enough to think like they're building that these guys -- it's obviously. As it has always been moves. To have success. 234. Years down the line and then if you don't have that. Then those guys won't be in the positions -- -- but this is their plan. All the Cubs fans thought in this plan but in the Theo Epstein what you wanted to do. So you pretty much just have to like soldier arms and bide your time and see what happens how old is -- Twenty. Team. Nine -- okay -- because if he was 26 -- 27 same situation come -- the surgery. Twelve and three just like they didn't say -- -- whether they were trading guys are signing and they never have to make that decision. You think about it at that point but that -- you know Brian just hit the nail on the head -- upfront about this is our strategy is what we're doing. Not Isaac Baker just turned 31 -- -- as well that I then you actually deal if you get tax form. The interest to see what happens with the season. I don't expect him to be. A contender at all I think they'll win seventy games maybe. You get some guys -- young they're coming along a sign -- a couple pitchers so maybe they went seven games that's looking way up to track. I think you're gonna ask you something else now if it was startling -- for Giancarlo Stanton. -- I think I thought I would do well Iowa standpoint five. Yeah yeah you're -- -- and I see you know 34 years he's he's had the injury. But boy he's he's got Triple -- written all over to me he's a stud yeah he recruited an absolute -- why would Lorie keep him if he dumped all the rest I got to believe he's in play if they can get again younger prospects because he has wanna pay him for. Okay so he picked up the following year the GM he said. Okay how they had a deal for you send Castro dart here I'll give you stand. How well he's not gonna do that because Castro was on seven with 63 million over the next six years so. Is it that doesn't work in his strategy now it wasn't for the contract if -- call you my answer would begin the year number one pitching prospect with -- we got to deal. Never staffs have to shoot for the moon.
