Transcript

Today the White Sox shows a non tender infielder. Dan Johnson and pitcher Anthony Carter making them free agents meanwhile Phil Humber. Who threw that perfect game the White Sox past season claimed off waivers. By the Houston Astros so I will ask our baseball experts here has that ever happened before deployment went 2123. Games affect somebody wave. The next season. Nobody is spared the job and being non tendered which would have been worse than being claimed on waivers. That at least there was one team that wanted to -- this -- probably have decent opportunity for me Astros also believe it or not. Had worst starting pitching in the Cubs last year and that's hard to our room we. Any that they what number he. He had the potentially had so much there have been an -- area went to six last year he really hasn't been here that one great game but hasn't been the same pitcher it's hard for me to believe he had that great human being because you look at this whole career and was he really can't think he's out of all the guys to pitch perfect games this and he. The one guy -- it -- eleven in the first half is almost an all star -- then he went downhill and then last year was a struggle for so yeah I think he's a real confidence guy and hand. Go look at the videotape the slider he was throwing against the Mariners that they respond. Stink it is also the Mariners were really a bad offense -- how -- -- was in Seattle but you know it happened and my. When time with the Pirates somehow beat out the Yankees for Russell Martin the Yankees are one to spend -- the Pirates are able to spend more money than the Yankees for Russell Martin. My question just why is Russell Martin's leading the catcher market shouldn't be AJ Pierzynski and a wage is about seven years old habit. His numbers are so far superior. To Russell Martin's and I I wonder of -- you get a contract similar to Russell Martin. This point where he also Mike Napoli thinks probably gadgets and get the most money of the of the catchers. AGA's numbers right there. Not a lot of people believing in him and the fact that the White Sox to me. I cannot believe White Sox fans are more upset about it I look at the White Sox to go to Tyler flowers who has now over a hundred games in the big leagues and he's hit 200 -- to open -- -- pinch -- you can't really look at -- got hot so -- -- seen nothing -- -- -- -- makes -- think that makes me think -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- a -- -- -- okay. But when you have one of an above average catcher and you're just gonna let him leave for somebody that is. -- may be back and you're gonna try to win I think if I play. Sox fans are looking at like you know AJ is gonna you know hit them. Jackpot and that they did they just know White Sox management is gonna go -- you're right why they Russell Martin what a team Iowa State game where half an -- here's my question. I think it would say that I'm not start to wonder and it's so early is AJ actually going to hit the jackpot because. There are a ton of suitors out there it sounds sounds like the Yankees may not want them the Dodgers may not want him so where does it annoy you the Rangers. Maybe the Mariners and is now a lot of teams out there and so. He maybe falls back to the White Sox and it's. It's possible bombing at the same thing basically happened last time that he wasn't coming off a 27 homer your way. Actually throughout almost 30% -- Do people think so that he can repeat that and maybe that's part of the reason why Russell Martin had 2829. Is gonna get more money potentially then. What about the fact that he's just not a likable guy I -- the Sox chance -- bit. I mean on the clubhouse is -- I don't -- how do you really want to me on your team if it if you look at the players voting. For the all star team and and they always reject him even if he has a great year. In my opinion he did a really good job for -- -- all those years handling the pitching staff and it doesn't really matter where it to me. You know that he's beloved or not album. I think he worked well with those guys I don't did -- so badly so I think he gets us there and prepares you know -- selfish guy just goes in the batting cage and tries to hit it worries about his own stats I don't think that was AJ is persona. So your Rick -- now do you figure. You know what I like KJ but I don't wanna pay the price I think is the market value might say I'll roll the dice and gets tejada -- -- Saturday -- that's right is any go decides. I got one out instead of right or not bringing AJ Pierzynski back I think just -- that -- everyone's. But a feeling has been well he's in demand so much it's gonna be out of the White Sox budget to do it but if the budget -- the Madison bare than maybe they can. And forward because I don't ever won a missile a chance to second guess somebody -- -- why you let these guys get to be free agency anyway if you wanna keep AJ Pierzynski. Last summer you -- gone to him with an offer he would have listened to you know while one how often is -- do that he really does not ordinarily I think he. His seat belts. They sort of message the last Mark -- contract right right yet the -- -- in the middle they did keep him off the free agent mark yeah but this last time that they do -- -- went for the Marlins right. You know I feel I'm letting me Paul Konerko get to free agents and it's just sort of crazy to me the way they do they didn't -- -- -- I mean they don't value they signed Pete you're right away I didn't go to let him even in terms of the Portuguese so I think -- I don't think. You let my dad was a little down peavy would have been a guy much more demand and AJ -- -- that was that was when you have to be proactive all right meanwhile -- Gavin Floyd -- We -- brawl a -- to get the winter -- -- expert Gavin Floyd to be traded. If not next week this offseason. Yes I think he will be traded at some point I think they exercise the option to have him as a trading chip. And -- and they with Hector Santiago and all those other guys they got guys that can project into the rotation. I think you'll be slower because if you got to get Zack Greinke side to -- get any balls they just signed. You know I I think you're gonna have a market build after some of the of the top free agent pitchers Europe are off. You never know what it you know predicted -- -- it happens to you know sort of silly but I think it I think they will trade him. I hope they don't trade him I mean they're pretty left handed there in that rotation and there is any doubt though is this good that I wouldn't you know just automatically hand him a spot in the rotation. What could they get for Gavin Floyd. I don't. Prospects. Prior and actually you know I don't think you gonna trade him for somebody that you're gonna plug in the third base or you're not gonna trade him for your catcher I don't think it lessens. Another young guy of Tyler flowers -- to maybe compete with them. But I think the reason they're going to trade him. Is that to go out and do it seemed to get a third baseman or catcher. Can spend money I think they're gonna have to move some salaries you know and I'm sure they would like to traded Jesse Crain or. Tour maybe that -- and do what do other ways. But I in -- I think they're gonna have to. Did trade salaries to open it up certainly if they ever want to talk about resigning Youkilis which that sounds like that -- say -- no I'm not gonna do us this. You know if KJ comes back. They need to give him a -- and he came back yeah he got eight million for two years right so you know not. Not much and I I think that's sort of why he figured. He would be. Not brought back after this year when he left at the end of the year he -- left expecting not to be back this -- should -- trade for Gavin Floyd as the Red Sox he's seven -- against the Red Sox in his career us.
