Transcript
Chuck I know is a young child in Chicago you grew up of dreaming about Notre Dame national championship is there a buzz everywhere they go. Is it almost like a traveling rock band like the stones is it that big down there. I mean you can say it is because others say this we flew down here today from the Chicago and I say about 85% of the people are flight. Where Notre Dame fans. As a lot of Alabama people here too in South Florida but. This is a special special season special game your Florida and Alabama it's almost like old hat for them the road excited obviously. About the game but minorities back on the map. And a big big stage for the first time since 1980 didn't do its earliest stage this big. So there's a lot of buzz here in South Florida for the Irish you see it everywhere. I paychecks all of them we got the practice today. I was not a practice today I was flying here OK I is this one I have read about Brian Hamilton wrote an article that they are showing a fake field goal play and practice and I was wondering if that was. Just Kelly trying to place in my head games with. Alabama or why would you think she'll play like that the media is only in practice for. Like a half hour fifteen minutes or something and why would you show that play to the media. Yeah ours now that's not sort out exactly what I was gonna say because if you open up the practice for media for about ten or fifteen minutes why would you do that bit. Head games to get some head games on Nick Saban if that's even possible. Both these teams have 43 days to prepare for this one games so who knows what's going through their minds maybe try to throw it a wrinkled out there and see if it -- It took frank -- I mean it. From my -- at the bar I mean there isn't a lot of expectation let's put it that you look at the oddsmakers. Made headlines kind of high I'll what have you seen a Notre Dame. Why you've been down there do you think that physically they can compete with -- Alabama team. I think they can compete with Sammy to just look on paper obviously Alabama has the edge and Notre Dame knows. Alabama is bigger it's stronger it's faster but one thing that ever Gholston said today was that. Notre Dame is resilient and maybe the most resilient team in college football that's why they're twelve and -- Yet there is the luck of the -- had some breaks that has got to help them get to this point but it. You know they have a great defense we are just look at the stat just a moment ago when that when their opponents this year they've had a hotter in fifteen plays inside the twenty. Notre Dame's opponents -- a 115 plays. Have only gain a 116. Yards and misses against. One of the toughest schedules in the nation you Alabama it's a lot of credit for being in the SEC and their opponents that they have to face. On a week by week basis but it. You know Notre Dame finds a way to win that is an intangible this team has they play close games they win close games. They believe that they can win -- and they're gonna trying keep Alabama's offense because the defense is might be equal but Alabama's offense on paper certainly seems to be better at Notre -- so they can keep. Alabama's offense off the field goal let them run up. A lot of touchdowns let us let points on the board -- feels that it's going to be in it late in the game and then if there and it late in the game and -- -- happen so don't. It's that they're ten point underdogs I'm surprised at number one team in the country. Ten point underdogs and BCS championship game if I was a betting man I'd put it on Notre Dame. They jackets -- -- we sought Chip Kelly today looks like he's going to Cleveland there's been some talk about Brian Kelly. If Notre Dame wins and pulls the upset. And they won the national title it really is not gonna get any better for Brian Kelly than it is right now would you expect that he would listen. Two NFL offer or would you expect NFL teams to call for him. I think to be a fool not to listen you never want to say no I'm not I'm gonna listen to an offer. Her a while they're Pete Carroll when he was at the top of the mountain in college football always listen and he had some -- cases with. At least the Redskins certainly -- Dolphins when he was at USC. And obviously ended up in Seattle I would say he would listen but. You know that nothing is better than this mania if he's your your coaching Notre -- you couldn't or -- on the map and you win the national championship on a street wanna just jump right. You know who's to say why is the NFL the place you gotta be. And if Notre Dame wins I am -- assure you that this school the boosters alumni will do everything they can. To throw money -- this guide to keep him in South Bend for as long as possible and in Charlie Weis his first season. At notre dam was an Al okay season they gave that humongous contract and he didn't even play in a BCS championship games.
