Transcript

Right cohesive coaching the Irish was his dream job. He might be willing to wake up and Notre Dame head coach interview with the Philadelphia Eagles Tuesday about their vacancy. He spent three years at south bad believe me I was two undefeated regular season they were crushed by Alabama Monday's BCS championship game. Do you believe he would really believe Notre Dame for the NFL Spurs this just about will power play to get more money for him and his assist. Yes and yes -- I think it's both I think. I am not surprised at all that Brian Kelly will listen the NFL and being around him for three years and not gonna say no the guy like the back in my hand but you look at his background. You hear things about the guy you're around a guy enough. I think he's a guy who likes to prove he can do things that. People are sure he can do I -- he came up as a division two coaching fundamentally I'm sure along the way I heard a million times. There's no way division to coach can be successful at a high level at the next level. This is the same thing I mean this is occur or a guy who's. I was a career climber because that makes it sound like he's -- jobs Willy Nilly without any loyalty but. I think he he's he he has in his mind. Do I wanna do the next thing I mean. There's a million different things they go to this ego wanted to -- wanted yes there's talk about money at Notre Dame he is getting the report -- he's getting a raise and extension anyway that was gonna happen. I don't know why this had to be shot into equation. I've for the latest on the Kelly story any Eagles most recent interview we won Lovie Smith let's go live to south Philly bring -- CSN Philly Derrick Gunn. I Derrick is there real legs to this Brian Kelly story let's start right there. Well if we're to believe what the Eagles owner Jeffrey Loria and general manager harder -- wouldn't have told us from day one since the process began. That we know we have to do the right -- we're not gonna hurt and get the right coach we are going to leave no stone unturned we're going to interviewed every candidate possible. Then yes I'd have to say that there is some legs to the Brian Kelly Stewart -- it -- Kelly is a man of his word and I don't know Brian Kelly. But he did come out and say -- this time leading Notre Dame is not an option that I have to be led to believe in that in this at this particular time. Brian Kelly is putting his name is and maybe get a few more dollars from Notre Dame and the other coaches like Jim Kelly and and bill O'Brien to the -- -- or. Now this Brian Kelly interviewed also mean I've been sufficient for this year. But that's the slip further down the road saved for instance that the liberty Eagles decide to hire. Turns out to be a bust we saw what happened there -- Michael -- got to Jacksonville being fired after one season. Say the Eagles next head -- doesn't get it done goes to a twelve to win 143 and thirteen over the next couple years will be looking for another candidate. They already have a feel for Brian Kelly at that point and -- begged him down the road. So I guess I think it does have some legs -- -- right now but I don't think -- we're near the Eagles leading candidate at this time. Derrick well we can play the hypothetical game a little bit anyway maybe is Brad Hamilton from the Tribune. Why would he be a fit a college guy and what we know about him running a program like Notre Dame in what ways might he be as fit. For the Eagles this time. Well I would have to go back to his track record -- -- look at his track record he's had success at every level that his head and Jeffrey Jeffrey -- And they didn't officially fired injuries came on a similar looking for somebody different. We're looking for somebody innovative somebody who doesn't who's not afraid to think outside of the box and when you look at three of the many candidates in the interview. Got the bill O'Brien is the Chip Kelly is an important Brian Kelly's fall in the category they've had tremendous amount of the success. Where they are. And of course again -- they're gonna -- other options. They're the way Brian Kelly gets all the the NFL offensive and defensive coordinator they've been interviewed and they're gonna take everything into consideration so. You know if -- what little I know Brian Kelly he hasn't been considered in the mix right now. Public isn't that great volume of success especially this year Notre Dame fourteen there was that he considered the top twenty -- the season started. Is this ended up to the number one ranking into the national championship game. Hey Derek of Stacy got through Yahoo! Sports Radio Bryant touched on a little bit of Brian Kelly really is a college guy does is -- Nick Saban who was an NFL assistant went to college careers and NFL background. So my question is how would this high gear if it did happen he received by the Philadelphia fans. And knowing what I know about Philadelphia fans I don't think they would take too kindly to the general consensus has been. We want somebody with an improvement NFL background of course Lovie Smith and here today. You've got those credentials as well as anyone. We don't know -- pit Lovie Smith is a perfect fit here. But people here want somebody that has an NFL pedigree whether it's a coordinator or as a position coach. And that's -- a lot of people me included feel that Mike -- member -- the offensive coordinator there would be a great fit for this team now. The Eagles defense is currently the best they have some good young individual talent on this side of the ball have not played as a cohesive unit. Name of the game out over the last couple of seasons and of course right now and we need to find out in Philadelphia it a bit folds. They're young rookie quarterback -- had a chance to play in seven games is the quarterback that can take the eagle beyond next season. So if you -- going to think along those lines. You want somebody with an offensive pedigree Mike McCoy has done a tremendous job in Denver look at what he's dealt with the likes of quarterbacks like Kyle Orton. And of course in 2011 with Tim Tebow. So people here they don't wanna novelty they want somebody who has some NFL pedigree on the field can come in here hey get this thing running from the very start.
