How realistic are chances that this team makes a deeper on. Well I think health we'll have a lot to do that capped her. And they got tossed back looks like he's. Ready to go he had Danny Carcillo back who gives you a little bit of a different dimension to mention that you didn't have last year intimidation. Toughness. That is Rolen around -- -- end boards every once in -- having his presence is huge. So. A lot of little fall onto the consistency. Everybody's in the same boat 48 games 99 -- season starts on Saturday. But -- consistency and I'll disagree with you -- you talk about Corey Crawford earlier. I thought he had a good season last year in the playoffs he outplayed Mike Smith. In regulation time. But he didn't get the job done in the playoffs in in overtime so to me that's the next question. Can he take it to another level yes -- -- on I think the jury's still out. In the big question is if you look at this team. And it's the same team that got knocked out the first round last year against Phoenix and the same core that is now the start two seasons in a row also walk. If you're a fan and the try to win back your you know loyalty. What do you fancied that is different make them think that this your will and different. My vote to me it's health -- Jonathan Toews came back for the first round post season he wasn't as healthy should have been. You know and personal look at the bad -- in the stuff a lot of things but he brings an element of that team. That was lost when he went ahead and then checked to a tumor removed -- was suspended and then he introduced me. Those two guys healthy are gonna be a big addition but you know that he and I were talking today during training camp. It's really come on the court Crawford anything you can have a bad season last year but he didn't do well overtime in the playoffs if Crawford is solid. He had those two guys back. You know you you play better defensively front of their goaltender then you you're you're right where you were last year before he won and an 889 game losing which was. Levy and it killed point one I gotta say -- -- in like a suitably neutral courts but they're good for five and open the Western Conference and I think that's the. And don't forget to go I mean beef it's christmastime last year. Number one team in the entire national hockey even now I think the schedule had a lot to do that you got players on your schedule. We just seen as fish. What ten weeks ago here with the Bears -- their schedule right now me got to please on your schedule and the Hawks did that last year. There's probably legitimately Chris they're probably somewhere in between the team that was number one overall for the first four months the regular season last year. In the team that ended up losing nine generals are probably somewhere in between now where is that. -- probably where they finished last year in six fight against Phoenix Coyotes I'm not as quick to write off Corey Crawford -- some people are. But I think as well as he played. Physically be the question is always been mental because he seems to get down quick and then it takes a long time to pop back is that something now is he goes into his second full season. That comes around or is that a problem that some guys never get over what he's got one of -- -- the best goaltending coaches and a national hockey except how we were going from Brian so I think that. Leads to better performance more consistency gaining that conference of course is a confident he's a confident guys are confident goaltender. But again I think that he does need to take that step. To. To take this team to the next level and can he do it Anna -- Throughout the national hockey gives you guess consistency. You're going to be in every single hockey game look at Ray Emery did a great job -- sure Corey struggled he came in their play 34 games in a matter of eight or nine days and did a great job so that they get the right guy. But this is all new let's make a perfectly clear. This is a 48 game schedule we've never seen this in a National Hockey League before. Yes in 9495. I was still playing. We did play a 48 game schedule. But in 9495 we had training camp. We had a three week training camp we played nine exhibition games. These guys come off five practices and airplane. So I mean this is unchartered territory for everybody and that's why the and the importance of this season is so crucial the start of the year you've got to get off to a good start can you make the playoffs in the first twelve games fifteen games. I don't think so but can you missed the playoffs I really believe you can for -- Tonight if the Hawks -- start with ten of twelve on the row right. You know you gotta be good road team right off the bat and that's gonna fallen Corey Crawford. Also following the leadership I think it's -- -- that is really have a great leadership I was doing that to me that's the least that there were enough tickets for Joel Quenneville comes and let -- you think -- -- -- to stabilize this team. You know I think the -- at some point is going to be as Stan Bowman may be enough for what he did or didn't do in the summer but -- on April 3 in the trade deadline if they need something. I have to -- that you we can -- and easily salary cap wise we can make a move that second in era so. It feels like it's a number two -- we've been talking about are the defensemen that can really be a difference maker. That -- check our guest here at Chicago Tribune live that was my next question you set me up perfectly. -- a year ago Dave Baum not available by the way just for the night can't come back home. Dave Bolden was Sox roster a year ago. For the last couple years to correct that. Why all of a sudden the team now competent enough to handle the role that second line center. And if he can't handle it how does that hurt you because you're checking line -- your ball in line and that will be the case and are you weakening two spots by trying to make one move I'll. Think -- weakening two spots David -- a proven. Player in this league. He has been a great shut down guy pretty much his whole career and he's been up top player before you can argue with the way that David Bowens played. Defensively and the job he's being given here he's done a wonderful job shutting down some of the best players in the entire national hockey. He has played in at -- that second line position last year for a handful of times. So it's not like this is the first time they've done a cap I mean he has been in that situation before. But the way that told coaches he likes -- -- he likes to get that checking line out there against the other team's top guys whether it's just being twins. Datsyuk Zetterberg pick your poison whatever it is. There's an opportunity of a lifetime for David -- and right now he's with Patrick Kane and Patrick Sharp. You're gonna get an opportunity and you know hopefully can take advantage of because that is such an important part and hockey team is if you have that depth that this -- Is -- to me it's great did in the preseason and you need when they needed reasons that Patrick Sharp there when the when the conflict we've needed that. But the one constant the last few seasons especially the post season. You could -- David bullet than that checking line he could have done listening to him or -- you know he can do that if that's lacking and I think that. Taking him out -- respond putting when the two. Really can hurt the -- philosophy are real they will be a philosophy change we all -- jewels they. Feels like what he sees in the first period of everything blows up I mean that that's just the way that he had and that's what I love about him as a as a as a broadcaster is as a former. Player in the National Hockey League following him is that he's not afraid to it to change Iran but I think to that point Chris is is that you get to a situation. Where your philosophy. Really does change now they've got -- shot there. Playing at the center -- position and a third line all right now Marcus Kruger is certainly available to do that type of thing but the way that coach Q. Has been known to coach he likes the match up and say you know what we're gonna match -- were gonna shut down but Seabrook and Keith. Who looked terrific they looked outstanding today got a chance to visit with him at training camp over Johnny so. But to me a philosophy change as well of maybe that matchup situation or maybe coach few says you know what we're all power against power. We're gonna go Toews line we're gonna go with the ball on line we're gonna go. Head to head.
