We are joined now in the box by -- Lindberg a baseball prospectus he joins us. From New York City and bad let's talk about the Cubs and the White Sox start with the White Sox your thoughts as they roll in the 2013. You know I don't think either team has had a remarkable offseason which isn't necessarily a good thing or bad thing. I don't think either one would show up on the list of offseason winners or losers but I think both teams have done some things to improve themselves. You know it's hard to find out a bad move that the White Sox have made if only because they haven't made a whole lot of moves at all. I like what they did locking Jake Peavy got even before he hit the market. I think the market didn't match up very well with their needs this offseason. They've -- sometimes sexy all the time you guys make predictions going into the season some of them you hit some of them you miss last year White Sox -- year. We're predicting. Do you just overall -- bites on the outside guys have them at 78 wins finishing third or fourth place. You missed on that how do you explain what happened there with the White Sox in your predictions. You know -- attacks have been a very unpredictable team over the past few seasons there have been seasons where we've. Nailed it. Last year I think they surprised us in the surprise the lot of people. You know I think you can point to you peavy and and Adam Dunn and Alex Rios three guys they got nothing out of really in 2011 to bounce back and had very healthy productive seasons. I think that's a big part of it. But I've moved to the Chicago. Cubs and what do you think of their offseason day. And B what is your projections tell you for Tony thirteen would be at least better than 61 wins. I think we'll we'll definitely be better than that I'm I'm confident in saying that much. You know I like a lot of the things they've done this offseason they they don't have the Astros to it to make them look good again in the NL central next season. But they've been a lot more active than the Astros or some other teams that had very little success last season. And I think they've kind of catapulted themselves into the realm of a respectability. At least you you might wonder why it. A team like the Cubs who aren't expected to contend this season. Might wanna go after veterans like Scott Hairston who might not be around when the team is is competing for a playoff spot. But I think they've done it without really compromising their future you know they've been improving the farm system at the same time as they've been strengthening the Major League roster. It targeted the rotation which was a weakness last year I think they had the fourteenth highest staff ERA in the NL last season. It totally remade this winter I think in ways that make sense. So you know they're not going to I don't think contend for a playoff spot already and I don't think they intend to. But I think they've definitely catapulted themselves let's say into the seventy. Or mid seventy win range which I think maybe -- Bring some of the fans back to it to Wrigley. And you know. Make sure there's a much better product on the field than there was last season and Lambert editor in chief of baseball prospectus thanks so much for your time we appreciate it appreciate it. Thanks for having --
