All the name is Jay Cutler to play better there is David checklist. Put together on the cover of the Tribune today. I took your checklist debt that she -- it right there there's more than just Jay -- getting better pull out of that big play receiver Brandon Marshall. Check cut Anquan Boldin. -- -- Patchwork offensive line Jonathan Scott Jack yeah ours is patchwork and you have Bryant McKinnie checked that's the most ridiculous part of your article. Do not realize that that if you get to the article but that's okay that that's that the column itself but I I did you do let it just. They've got nine Pro Bowl appearances on their line we don't have not toilet bowl appearances. Aging defense -- leader Brian Urlacher Ray Lewis okay. Versatile running back Forte Ray Rice -- is way better than ours but they both have a versatile running back. Dynamic return man they've got Jacoby Jones and we've got a quitter who said he wasn't even mentally into the games. Are you kidding me at quarterback with poise and discipline the stats say this guy is light years ahead of Jay Cutler I'm talking about black hole. Five years in the league. Five times that the playoffs he's won more road playoff games that anyone in the history of the sport. He won a super ball he's the MVP we got a guy who's going to be thirty in April. But we're still trying to turn into a franchise. Did you read this hard hard not even close. Three the par whereas said that Flacco. And Cutler have physical comparison biggest difference from the shoulders up yes -- the big difference I agree. And I don't know if that's the difference it you can change. Yeah you can bridge the -- how well I think that's started the debate I think that when you -- mark trust many -- looking at the team you inherited you look at Jay Cutler. And you see all sorts of immense talent you think that you can fix him. In a way that makes him Joseph Flacco. I think the you have to look at that way from our trust and I'm not saying he can do it but physically. There isn't that big of a difference between the two you can find you could find some people within the physically Jay Cutler has an edge. In through the media does a guy who's never missed the game in his career. That's taller stronger. A better leader is more well liked by his teammate passing plays the position better on talk about the physical skills the quarterbacks are measured by. -- other rates very -- a little more athletic kids a little more up on the bike race what -- been great eye on the ball -- Daniel Ravens have been in the playoffs. The past five seasons six of the past seven the Bears have missed it five of the last six cap we're not talking about the five of the last six seasons you realize I'm talking about. Take yourself back to December 31 -- you wake up okay you look at the NFL stands for the Ravens have just lost. For the final five games the Bears won two straight wouldn't have Ravens attendance six the Bears attendance and -- the Ravens are going into the playoffs the Bears are the fire the coach. The Ravens are using an offensive line that's going to be the first time they started together as a group. In the playoffs that's -- definition of a I don't think Patrick they have lots of overhauled offense they have it in -- -- -- -- the wind a lot more depth and talent as a state then the Bears v.s but. It take a look like -- look at their their playoff Javier -- playoff offensive line. -- ninth pro -- Look at the number of starts you've got. From the majority of those guys got a little bit differently but I decide that OK I just said they have more talent depth I'll speak a little bit slower if you would like. I'm not this -- wow I'm not disputing the fact they have a better offensive line but if you. But I can definitely -- and -- -- number it's an irrelevant point. The Bears were seven -- their conference in. Here's the thing when the Bears. Finished the season at ten and six I believe everyone felt and I don't think anything's changed since then. That if they'd gotten into the playoffs they were not gonna succeed -- because they simply could not score they -- a -- that's ever -- big state they would have debacle totally isn't. And I would -- -- I read the column. I got a little fired up. Not to can make remote amid some notes it when I looked at some that I just looked at the stats between the guys and when you talk about completion percentage. Yards per attempt. Passer rating. -- they're very close for nearly identical. But -- the two quarterbacks when you look at interceptions. There's a huge difference and do what interceptions. What are the bad judgment that this is right and and and what I'm talking about a lack -- a good neighbor still right break with Joseph Flacco put him I'm gonna go back to what I said from the start. Which is after seven seasons in the National Football League. With Jay Cutler guy who turns thirty in April I don't know. Then he can be rehabilitated. That he can be changed did he can be improved. In that manner. I think though this. We were having read your column today that I hired there are certain things I disagreed with too but I did think that when you look at. The quarterback situation and you said it. That there -- -- bum me out from the shoulders up they're different players I think that's the one thing that will probably kill the Bears I think your point is well taken. You can go into the playoffs. A hot team or maybe not even a hot team but just get hot at the right time and when we've seen that over the last two years in the NFL. So if the Bears can get -- may we always talk about -- get into the playoffs in any sport anything can happen. Tentatively -- that by the way I've got to dead money cap over the final seven games of the year -- Brad just mentioned. That great offensive line that you excited and obviously -- -- for the Ravens and Joseph Flacco as good as he did. They only scored eleven more points. Then the Bears awful offense okay -- -- a little little little awful under your point Cam Cameron that's why he had to go. Hit my boy Cam Cameron did have to go they fired their offensive coordinator they only scored a hundred. And 44 points and I think the Bears scored a 133 points in the same segregation that. The biggest difference between what do the coaching. No well I think I guess it kind of goes into adding coaching to the big difference the last three Super Bowl champs and have all been red hot going in. Packers six Giants seven and then the Ravens got all had. Long term coaches we have stability on both sides of the football pretty much I know they change topics coordinators. Did the same quarterback the same receiver that our group of receivers same running back. The Bears are trying -- got offense well. A couple of the affected flat go. We mentioned though with the winning road playoff games those are big games yes Cutler in big games. Has been largely disappointing heat can't beat the Packers with any consistency and tell. You can dominate your division it's tough to Jason -- playoff win in his career. It's that it gets the worst team that ever made the playoffs a seven NIC talk to federal pose the worst team that are real depressed and that was it. Bad team possible though not to drop parallels. Between the Ravens. Winning the -- -- when they're ten and six with that thirty something year old linebacker. Who they. Thought I was very inspirational in the Bears who find themselves in a similar situation there lessons be learned from the ravens' experience. That's the point this.
