And northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald on the UPS store hotline -- yeah I know the work never stops Patten thanks for joining us but. How happy are you in this day's over with and what the overall thoughts on -- your class that on its way to Evanston here. Well -- crescent street now everyone we're excited about the collapse in nineteen young man that our program very well. Now Woolsey -- -- -- -- school an underdog and camp Kenosha. Hey fits instead you're probably sick of taking questions for me but. When you talk to kids. What they say about the -- facility coming in. And you've probably talked to kids the last 24 hours about the whole Wrigley thing very is not a big Dillon. That facility -- a game changer for austerity. You know lose. You've been around a lot of facilities throughout -- Football and you know we have what we need currently but. It really gives our our young -- all the resources. That possibly need to make themselves the best players. On the field and prepare for the up all along with having -- or second on the academically and socially we really want -- you Nike campus and our facilities are on campus in a couple that -- -- on the shores of Lake Michigan. It's going to be absolutely spectacular. You know -- the opportunity out to have Wrigley Field. As another home game for the next five years I've had a chance to talk about. Point that there recruits or the last 48 hours and that was announced it would you know the number one thing that I keep your problem is cool at a school coach well first seventeen year old that's a peculiar to -- cool -- out. And you know it's it's going to be Egypt and it got some good. Thank coaches met -- and I got a chance to sit down quarterback Tom priest a little bit. The state playoffs you see you as a quarterback you have to -- maybe a safety wide receiver. You know we look at. It's probably has a very dynamic athlete outlook these guys certainly I'll have to start the ball to wide receiver for us. We we believe we've got to protect the quarterback replace -- that LB on for Maine south high school that we thought about for a long long time. And where we could be more excited I have two of the more dynamic actual players along with Matt Harris. From here in Chicago land. To come join our football and. And Bennett said to what do you think Pete. As we've made a bigger and bigger deal the signing date have you noticed that did the kids approach to lose to the way you that you would come to campus. Has that changed and they'll also in the same -- Have you changed when you recruit kids as a result of you know what a big event this is become. Well you know I I I don't think you focus on today as much as. You're your focus on the the process that's on the right young man and end of the process is definitely celebrated but he was that my the media event that we had today. We got a lot of work that we need to do. And the country is as far as the way that -- handle in the process and you know -- we. I haven't had a tocchet. In technical perhaps buried deep discussion here on Monday at a conference. The initiate -- strategy that you regulate a bunch of rules that there's there's going to be trickled out consequences. At the end of the -- there and act should happen to the high school level high school coaches and and our assistant coaches that -- -- -- -- are very excited out so we're gonna have to work harder. Override those those those changes and and that's our focus is moving forward I noticed or. Quite a few of our coaches we have a chance and dialogue in the pot he has the potential. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- Coach talk about it in particular. There are definitely. Our process that this change is not for the better. -- it steady again it ended twenty years now you've been associated with northwestern. Did you sense that it did back then over the years the academics were injury ends and now it has shifted their kids and their parents are way more into. You know what the degree means rather than it being a negative in terms of whom -- -- can't recruit. I think part of that that was a good excuse I really do I as I look at it from the standpoint that we got I had the privilege to play well. You know they were built very bright guy and and very -- The reverse and what their academic interest work. But you know I respect -- coach Barnett has that started this was recruiting not that not only have a great academics of love football and wanted to win championships. And and I think there's always invite guys wanted to get a great great great school. And look we have the next 45 years and -- as a -- that your decision but. You know it is we look at it if we believe that this is our manager's and again what makes us unique. And what sets us apart from everybody else in the league where we're gonna record about -- -- guys. We're not gonna say well you know I work hard -- and I wasn't really motivated and -- actually it actually is. Welcome for the guy that has sacrificed currently because -- are and that's why we went we went consistently because -- Pitcher may have -- this accomplice a couple of -- ago. But L is written -- a couple publications today about. You're approach to verbal commitments and in the time you've been head coach over there. How much worse is that situation gotten unfortunately. With kids making the verbal commitments but that door remaining open. And really in a way it shouldn't be and they end up by the end of finding them and committing to someone else when all's said and done. -- I'd hate to say that at all on the young man I think it has a lot into it societal use. I think -- situationally I think we have coaches. Aren't that kind of talk couple the mile. And -- upon kids just because I wanna go -- five or six other kids now have interest. During the senior year and then unfortunately you have a little bit of an issue right now young man that predicament. And and really using the commitment at a place holder. And maybe try to get something bigger in their lives of their respective. Yeah I'm not quite sure were teaching kids -- things that's why we feel comparable. As a coaching staff. How we all are aware of it Obama. I fifth thanks again for a few minutes your time I was appreciate fun talking to you but congratulations on nine today. And and shall be here from against. Well I prefer street I appreciate what matters ought to let you know after watching that tape I'm not quite sure you war I liked it -- there will be big and football players. I felt I was opened the who's who you know couple TD passes and candidate. It's like you applied if you're I hit what so ever so little bit but it doesn't look at us.
