CSN Chicago dot com Cubs insider Patrick Mooney joins us from Arizona Patrick. Pitchers and catchers now in full work out well the Cubs. And had plenty of arms in the off season can you handicap for us that tough decision the team ultimately have to make when it comes to the five starters that make up that rotation. Well and I think if you. Think it sent a postcard back you know -- and in Chicago would have been today. I've seen -- Smart Jets Edwin Jackson Matt Garza all throwing at Fitch park today -- -- next to each other Tom. They're obviously locks assuming -- as healthy as he says he is. And Scott Baker as a guy they've signed. 21 year deals in the can restore his value as a Major League starting pitcher I don't have to Russian but if he's ready I think -- -- On and at that point you looked at Travis Wood. I've -- wanna go it kind of molest and it's helped the rotation. -- that kind of unique selling points. I and then it's kind of funny they. Told Carlos normally have a sense at that element and have a good chances to start that they're gonna start a lot of games term so I think. I at this point. You know they're kind of -- swing at so. There's a lot can happen between now and opening day it'll come down to who is healthy I'm actually got pretty much. Everything will start with those three guys. That it's. Patrick some say when you look at the Cubs entire roster that the rotation is the brightest spot for this team I know it's early but do you think that will be the case this season. Yeah I mean some margin I think he's still kind of can't believe. But he was shut down last September that's kind of something. And that energy is used on almost. All out right because you're gonna have to dial back at this spring that he's someone you know that the organization -- can be a number one type starter. Garza actually. A couple of people notice said he seemed. Pretty relaxed this spring as you know he went through a lot not knowing what was going on his elbow. I think he is like to cliche goes you either really in. Great shaky kind of use that time's sake get ready for the season and Edwin Jackson and a pretty. Relaxed. And I know he has the big contract now. I think it's gonna look pretty reasonable -- just the way prices pitching is going to ago. In baseball and if he gives him 200 innings they'll be more than happy. Patrick full squad reports that a few days many players already showing up though we are hearing that a Chicago native. As -- showed up in Mason was given number it's what they want how did he react to getting Sosa's old number. Yeah Scott Erickson said he never worn a Cubs -- until today because. You know they're gonna do it -- outplayed in the White Sox organization a long time organization guys there. I mean that is why it's. So like a roster picture roster posted on Twitter and that's how he found out. Yet Sammy -- low number now a lot of people there's several people at that number in between including Tyler Colvin. -- Bill Bradley. Harrison and it broke I went to nickel and our high school and your members are going to the bleachers. In the in the late nineties once and that was doing this thing so I really looking forward to the opportunity out here. And not he's gonna get it was so elsewhere and has a lot of options back there but yet. Twenty homers and less in four at bats we're gonna get a chance to show what he's got on the north side. And volley Patrick what's the one thing you're most looking forward to seeing from the Cubs as spring training rolls on. Yeah I think -- we've talked about you know really there are a lot of -- health question marks. Particularly -- Her rotation. I think what Matt Garza and not be just what I'm looking at will be a lot of I think scouts aren't contending team they're gonna wanna see what he has to do and then. I think there's one kind of next level player have to be. Javier Baez. He's twenty years old. And universally regarded as a Carrot Top prospect -- got a Major League Baseball at Q on the Packers next so. There's no there's your chance exist anymore gets streaky this year. But he's someone that they're counting on -- -- -- our -- -- so that -- in that shortstop and really can play. All over the field wherever they need and want you to read it. Patrick -- great stuff will be checking out your ink the CSN Chicago dot com all your love. --
