Transcript

Right now and Indianapolis is the annual NFL scouting count nine. That's real fine all the movers and shakers including our prayers inside sun moon Mullin. -- we always puts you in the movers and shakers category but what did you learn from the press conferences today with mark -- and Phil Emery was a more state secrets today. What I'm gonna just bask in the feeling of being part of that young talent I'd like to think that you're talking to him. No it each state secrets is a good way to put it as Phil Emery and explain it to one questioner said what what's the point all the secrecy that you've been burned in the and in fact -- because. There was a draft choice of word was out -- the Kansas City Chiefs Raptors somebody and that team jump them to get that very -- so. Hard to argue with that there's just a lack of sincerity it's just they're basically saying we're not gonna negotiate the media. We're not gonna talk about injuries this is -- gone back Lovie Smith you certainly won't do it again and in the new regime. So there -- just keep their their powder dry and their and their secret to themselves as just the way it is it's an actuality the truth -- better than to win them from but just talking to but -- Tom -- from CSN New England is it's -- but we have a lot better Chicago. A mood it's Tedy are you Bryan Texas CNN salute Joseph court as on the top pick and is this. So release star heavy draft you can remember. Yeah today it's a good way to put a star heavy. I think we equate that with quarterback Kevin right I mean that's Lester was locked in and RG three and Danielle I'm. It was glitzy. Somehow is a draft that starts off with a tackle. And a name that doesn't look right kill Paul you know -- it but the there's they're just isn't the others not that. I don't know Julio Jones or there about the receiver this is jumping out screaming matches about the quarterback. And yet it was interesting to Bruce here against who he was interviewed the runnerup for the -- job and now the Arizona Cardinals coach. Specifically it was almost lost in some of the things you said. So there's a bunch of guys in this draft including quarterbacks are going to be playing for a long time so it doesn't look look to Ted I think I agree that's a good way to put it. But you know it does amendment doesn't mean it is not really good talent it's just not sexy when it's when that talent at the -- -- -- -- -- it's my guess the Zito and and I've heard that this is a very deep draft on the offensive line. Do you think the Bears at that twentieth position go with the -- say offensive tackle on the board. Or is this something where they take the most skilled guy at when he and then maybe build depth in the second and third in or third rounds with offensive line. I think they take the best available. You know it's funny it's it's easy to do it for critics to say it was him because so many holes this is attendance six team. If they're looking to win now they're looking for a starter they're looking for impact guys. And I I would see the interesting thing about the destruction of all this ego free agency precedes the draft. And what they do I think they're gonna make some serious plays it at different guys and try to bring them get some offensive line you don't wanna have to go to the draft where I've got to get beat the got a -- at tackle. You know that's not a good way to be. And an -- and I've thrown one more thing if you think back a couple times that the Bears have drafted. Tackles number one overall. Always with Chris Williams and 2000 leveled -- -- Those were tackle rich draft you still have to get the right one so I would still see them. Even if meant -- -- pieces and shoulders and shoulder pads above everybody else they go for a linebacker they go for. Brian Urlacher replacement I don't know that they would take a serious safety or something like that a third deep at that position. But yeah I I think you're looking for the best available on this team is not that far away country -- a lot of critics would say tennis six if you wanna keep it here not. Not fall off. They move a lot was made of the fact that mark -- wasn't really willing to anoint Jay Cutler as the bears' franchise quarterback during his introductory news conference. Understand that came up again today. He that's a certain bearded scribe from certain midwest. Dot com. You know I was interest in in the press conference where. Phil Emery has used the term franchise quarterback and trust them specifically didn't. And Emery specifically said let's not make it about semantics these guys are excited about working with Jay Cutler. Whatever you know it's. He is still gonna have to play his way into a contract extension that which I think is probably the biggest deal here I think there -- -- with that capital coming in as a quarterback coach. Mark trust him with his background working with quarterbacks. It could be a better situation for Jay Cutler to me that the story of the season is going to be whether to take advantage of that. More batters and you gotta start out CSN Chicago that count about the future Shea McClellan some interesting stuff there. What you know it's funny if you think back at everything he did last year there were adamant about him learning to be a defensive end. Great well I noticed there was a scrambling Q which game what might have been Texas or something I look companies in a two point stance at defensive tackle I don't think whoa -- something going on here. And sure enough they were using him almost the way he was at Boise. They kind of a -- a monster two when he was a college or high school term fort. It Phil Emery -- mark Christmas specifically did not rule out moving this guy to wherever best uses his talents. Which I had it just. The big picture I think is excellent you wanna get to eleven best football players on the side of the ball on the field. If this guy's one of her eleven best any any somebody can play a multiple positions. That's a great situation to have an effect you know -- specifically referred to. Wanted to get Israel Idonije -- tells me that they -- there's a defensive end. They've got toward wooten they've got Julius Peppers if you have those three guys in place now you got some options with Tim McClellan which makes your defense your whole becomes a little more interest thing.
