Transcript
After the -- 2013 and post got to come on this moon Mullin. -- in Chicago dot com Bears insider with a pro football talk legend Mike Florio. -- Mike you know the time we've talked about different things with the Bears this is an organization team. That over the last two years as torn up its general manager roots it's taken -- -- coaching staff. From your perspective on what you see around the league what is the sense of appearances -- arrow pointing up or available in free fall we're supposed. You know I think -- that the Bears have been under achievers in recent years one playoff appearance since that 2006 Super Bowl loss and there's a lot of change in the changes eventually gonna trickle down the roster you can't get a new general manager and a new head coaching consecutive years and not expect there to be. Real change in that organization you know how that manifest itself. We have to assume that change is coming. Whether it's Brian Urlacher this year not coming back whether it's maybe a new quarterback at some point in the not too distant future when you can GM and you get a new head coach all bets are off. And as far as the the new head coach. The Bears went to Canada. And they do well I suspect everybody's gonna go to Canada we get ourselves one of those kind of guys. Who is this a good outside the opportunity NFL's you like to be on the the front it should change. Is this at the changes what mark presence bringing. A good that the combination of those those -- -- John is a fine line between outside of boxing cuckoo for Coco -- so we don't know how creative this is really going to be I've kind of taken a wait and see approach -- like. Something different than what we see something other than the cookie cutter this is the way it works. He's a guy who's got plenty of experience at the NFL level my question my concern would be why did it. Work for him when he was an assistant -- did he become a head coach that and why he's been out of the NFL for eight years and understand it's great combined NFL assistant experience. With head coaching experience somewhere and you're right if this works well. Everybody else is gonna wanna go find -- FL head coach if it doesn't work then. Even in this and I told -- so you never should have done. And in the you know with the change of machine the other read options in the pistol all the sort of think better -- to guy refused to bring in twelve guys on the field. He argued do you see a guy like this. You know sometimes -- college coaches committed they've got all kinds of ideas that don't work. This is a pro coaches feel is the sense of what they're running Canada some variation or some new ideas coworker. I don't know that he's necessarily gonna bring stuff that working candidate is it's a different dynamic -- field three downs to get ten yards. But mark trust in the reputation has always been kind of professorial. May be a little bit too rainy now. It's up to him to dumb it down and educate the players in a way that they can work on instinct and not over think things that's going to be the challenge that this is a guy who was heralded when he was an assistant coach the question is. Has he stayed up with the NFL during -- eight years he's been out of it it was a good thing to come in with a new approach a new breath of fresh air will help what I heard it's. It's going to be one of fun stories to watch this year and beyond to see how long this works and how far takes the Bears. And these -- the Dallas to have its on the on the field and and it's a narrower after the new -- do so we'll have UCL -- worked with Mike appreciated and up from the other to become wanna get to come on again with Mike Florio from pro football talk.
