Transcript
The NBA season entering the playoff push college hoops season heading toward tournament time joining us now to discuss both. NBA -- three time world champ -- are both Steve Kerr stay and how do you like the Bulls have held Derrick Rose and Charles Barkley came out that I think you'll be back quickly and his brother should shut the hell up. Others have said no I don't play till next year what are you -- Well I think it's a matter of being patient which they've been. And it's it's about getting together with the doctors and Derek. And did deciding if you are ready then let's do it and if not if you're not a 100% sure that you're ready to go. There will wait till next year if we have to. When I look at the balls I do not believe it's a team that can win a championship if there comes back this year he won't be razor sharp he won't be the MVP Derrick of a couple years ago how far do you think this team can go. I've. They can win a couple of rounds but they're not beating Miami four times though whether Derrick is there or not to you know -- I think back to a Michael Jordan came back to our Bulls team. But he was playing baseball. He came back with -- about seventeen games left that wasn't enough time for for us to it to blend together. So even though you know you these guys know Derek and they've played with -- I don't think he'd just thrown into the mix and all of a sudden expect them to to beat Miami so. I just I don't see it that's why I really think it's important to be patient my guess that it just continue on the path that they are on right now. We've got a question from a lot of our FaceBook followers who's a fan of years we want to talk about the -- Jose. Steve given the bulls' recent struggles even prior to the all star break. Can you see them ever getting back on track to what we saw earlier in the season whether. Yes I think they can get back to where they were earlier in the year in terms of being one of the best defensive teams in the league. To being efficient offensively. And being you know frankly like a top ten team that there's a very good club and they're they're tough. But right now losing -- kinder -- killed them. Because they rely so heavily on offensive execution. They're not explosive they've got to be able to score in the half court and without your top two point guards. It's tough to execute the NBA so I -- the issue right now but assuming Hinrich is back and maybe if Derrick gets back yeah absolutely this team can be very good. Fly let's move to the college game Big Ten might be the toughest conference in the nation at some say it is do you think -- multiple teams in the final four. I could see it I think the Big Ten as far and away the best conference in the country this year and I've watched a lot of college basketball. But when you think about job not just the top teams that -- Indiana goes without saying they're going to be the number one seed in the entire -- it. Yeah Michigan's been right up there Michigan State but I even look at Wisconsin as a team they could very easily make the final four on the and there are a nightmare to play against. With their defense and the way they take care of the ball. The way their bigs could step outside shoot. So I think the the Big Ten it's going to be very very well course you'd never know it's it's one and done in the tournament but they've got a lot of teams who could make deep runs for sure. There has not been one dominant team this season where you say wow that's the team to beat. Do you think we'll see another mid major or to make it all the way to Atlanta. Well I wouldn't shock me I don't think it would shock anybody. You know get -- as the second ranked team in the country -- technically a mid major. VCU has another excellent team under shock as far they were just in the final 42 seasons ago. Butler is capable although they tailed off a little bit of late. They've proven they can beat anybody so. It's not really the of this Cinderella story that it used to be. Now that college basketball has so much more parity and and few were great. Teams you're teaming up with -- -- stayed out of the best college players who do the most off the court tell us about the good works team. Yeah I saw part. This group it's the Allstate NA BC good works team any BC is the national association of basketball coaches. And what we're doings were honoring ten of the top players in the country who do good work off the court charitable work you know work in the community. And a lot of athletic directors around the country dominated their players we went through a process that was included in what we read. -- we read all about what players were doing. Had some of these guys are really impressive. True student athletes -- in and gentleman who who care about their community and are doing a lot of good work so. Were releasing the that the ten man team today. And we will honor those players out the final four in Atlanta in April so it's it's it's really great endeavor. Steve you would have been a lot for that team thank you for taking time for us. Thanks capital by the way congrats on the new show a lot of appreciate it thanks again thanks for join an all right it's.
