Transcript
What is it like being Jonathan Toews to score about your normal day. Going gets up and eat going to get your dry cleaning what is it like to be you in this town. Ramirez is changed a lot over my guess is my sixth season very -- -- really crazy to think that. It's gone by an act quickly and and you know who wasn't. News very different my first couple seasons I -- my first season when game story on TV and and he talked on mysteries in the norm early you know who to block -- -- were. You know how the team was doing and him. You know all stars -- -- the winter classic at Wrigley and then we won the cup hereafter and and just you know it's been on the up and ups and so it's pretty special this streak. I'm sure hockey fans or or stern watch Rocky Ross the Hawks so you never wore a whole -- on your fans put -- to come -- we have this year. You know hopefully were were. Journal and it came -- for what they -- you know in the fall. You Ewing came early in your career you guys were all over the place -- and promotional stuff I mean for the first two or three years maybe. Mean more now than I have to wonder that get tiring and to it you know that did you have to say we need to cut back on this a little bit. Yeah I guess that a little bit sometimes. There's times in the season or you have to be focusing on hockey team carry yourself and but I mean I think you still see your guys doing that stuff and and I'm signing autographs doing certain things that I was still convention this summer which is always very huge hits so. Even lower or or we're getting that support we restore give back a little bit and then I finally has been throwing offense. Does anyone reached out to you may be whether it's Wayne Gretzky Michael Jordan somebody from the NFL this is look -- when I played. We had a streak similar to what you're doing and Paul Konerko says what you guys have done to this point is better than them going eleven wanna route to a World Series. Has any athlete said to you appreciated because it's gonna be gone like that you may never have it again. No one's. Saying feeling that to me but I think you can kind of think you relate that that's. We are against some breaks are known and you can't. Is very difficult to make it this far and have a streak -- this -- with with both you know get a few lucky goals are few bounces going -- and for the most part. Or were earning a lot of -- success -- working harder than great goaltending. Were killing penalties -- -- par prison better than last year in and you know -- -- you frame -- -- or 45 game win streak in. And you know row one night and and you know I feel aren't unionized you don't have your legs like you normally might have been. And it Osama lost because pretty acceptable we haven't said -- we've been. As hungry to win in every single game is as the last one in and we wanna continue -- where I think that's that's a huge. Quality to have as a team. You know Johnson because -- one and every imaginable way. Again the other night either coming so fast I can't remember which -- that are three fights and you know for people who watch hockey it's still. There and watch other sports is still strange. To see two guys drop the gloves tell the refereeing is around watching. The players beating on the side with there sticks in two guys are going to at a amid the need. They may say is just a hockey fight as the fight. There are three of them I know you guys you know that's the hockey kind of rules on the hockey way. You got in a fight -- that because I we were joking beforehand you know get a nice guys on your side of the but I know that that little like your teammates. He can explain the culture of fighting in hockey. You know -- This is the way I know hockey is the -- I know -- -- to -- the -- and and when you do put it like when you looked if not perspective that two resonance were wrong kind of steps away and they'd go out for you know 1540 seconds it is kind of a weird thing but. I'm sure there's other things in other sports that you wonder why is it like and it's just the way it is in hockey and -- brought a wanna see more fights and you have the other end of the spectrum where people. One series gone so it's been part of the game for a long time and I don't to a certain degree there's a reason why it's there changes if you stop fighting what would change and I mean it. You can debate this all day but you see a lot of situations where you know in in the new NHL were fighting has gone down in there is a lot of guys run around throw cheap shots and the biggest thing Moscow over here has been head shots. And how some of these guys' skin do what they do and get away with it worth the NCAA instigator rule on. The whatnot so I mean. My message here and can give you my stance on talk world -- -- it but that's that's the debate that are fighting kind of takes care of to a certain point that. Guys have to answer the bell thirty and do some stupid -- one of our viewers. And a question from FaceBook Jeremy C -- Jonathan besides winning the cup in 2010 would this streak be the most exciting a fun time you've had as a player. Yeah I guess is a few moments that car stand up there as the most success I've been very lucky obviously won a Stanley Cup but. During the regular season. It's this kind of a steady. Said he ongoing thing or nothing really seems stand out that much in him. A lot of people talked were certain things that stood up to us as a team in 2010 and and maybe why why we won the Stanley Cup and I think this year this whole streak thing could be that that feeling gives us the -- -- that we need to believe in ourselves that. I -- favorite team that we have a potential on and it is an exciting thing but we know if we don't use this conference for some greater like a sit in the post season that people are gonna forget about what happened at the -- season pretty quickly. When John McDonough comes Danny Briggs. The day before that's announced that they're coming over. That this you're gonna walk around Chicago and you will not be able to go pick up a pizza go get your dry cleaning your rock star your needs security around you. Would you Sidney you're insane. Bermuda. Pretty much capped a perfect but this is the big that it that the record is fabulous what you guys who represented is terrific but this is the big. Changed to me they'd be. You know in the glory days of Bobby homestand Nikita across the street at the stadium couldn't get a ticket. The fans loved the product. They didn't -- the organization. That's that is the big nine -- -- -- you guys feel like I. That's your business but I there's a connection now the fans know that winning matters to this organization. And they know that they matter and then has never been the case. With the Blackhawks. And that is to see that's the sea change. I mean I believe that if a fan. I bumped into John McDonough tomorrow night and said. Mister president I don't like the way in my hot dog this -- John would launch an investigation. Mean that's the way they've connected. With the fans and it's you know we know that -- team that didn't used to televise home games is not televising. Home practices. But I do it's it's it's a connection and that I'm not sure exists without any other organization. In this town. What is it like you have guys playing around the league who say to you. OK Jonathan what does that type player there because I know it's like we're on that and it's not like that. It's and it's torture of the guys that that come here and play for a team -- the Campbell is how well we're treated as players in. You know it but I agree wholeheartedly with with football said I mean not only do me treat us players is. You know just. It's first class all away everything from what we before after practice and how we travel and all those little things that doesn't really add up sometime we catch ourselves complain about some were just like. Where adamantly Pluto -- pre spoiled here we got a pretty good. But I think you so you definitely see. How this organization gives back to -- to their fans and -- it goes a long way in. You know and I think there's a Democrat through their first thing the fans bring to us -- and that's understood for sure. -- give a little shout out to Rocky words I think that to me. He has changed the culture by hiring John McDonough -- -- call these people but I know that he gave. 30000 dollar rings to all the employees he paid them all during the lockout. You know it's had to save but it is took you know his father died and --
