Transcript
It with Steve Conroy and I'm -- firefighter and a fever is so high the Blackhawks right now the city almost has to close the schools. We're at the halfway point of the shortened season Hawks 21. All in three to see what does -- first word that comes your mind when you hear when you see that record and when they have done so far. Well outstanding really in almost unbelievable but I think you know. Hockey wise I think it's got to be defense and they've allowed the fewest goals against in the entire NHL. Not only the defenseman playing great the forwards doing a great job in the -- And I think maybe the biggest reason is that in the goaltending I mean one into maybe question marks -- and Corey Crawford Ray Emery. And they have been pillars during this run to start the season. How have the Hawks avoided a loss in 24 straight games the book maybe the movie is in the process of being written but let's start with the man who's leading the team in points Patrick Kane. The last season -- his lowest point total of his career he has raised his game to a whole new ball. Yeah I think he was embarrassed by that tee shot hit it in the playoffs he didn't score in the last three games against the Phoenix Coyotes and took it upon himself to be different. Any certainly has been this year. You read dedicated himself in the off season he went to Switzerland to his mom and I really work -- -- game there and boy -- that hasn't been paying dividends series stronger. He's faster and that he relishes being the difference maker and I think. He really gets into the game knowing that that's his role and he has been nothing short of fantastic start this season and more creative do you think. Well I think so you know because not only is he a threat to shoot but he's also one of the best passers in the NHL and that he didn't really mean. Because if they take away his shot I think double team him he's gonna find the open man if they don't -- he will certainly be used in now way how to handle it. 47 points -- that tied it. First seventh in the NHL it was to watch other guys there that would show here on the list. He's scoring on 18% of its shots but it's not just the scoring it's how he's going. It has been fun. To watch -- 12 punch of Kane and Toews is doing wonders is -- only one game. Where neither of them were on the score sheet but I don't measure would -- as does my goals and assists as the intangible. Well there is you know personally as a captain -- leader on this team he's great in the faceoff circle he plays the first unit power play. He's on the penalty killing also and he leads by example. Any other wildlife relief team doesn't have a Johnny sometimes find the extra gas in the tank and he brings the -- Supporting cast has been amazing I didn't Brandon side his teammates -- grandchild for. He's only twenty years old and he's making this kind of impact I think kind of under all the big headlines you see the Blackhawks their son who's having his great season. You know he was good last really played a couple of games for the Blackhawks is the nineteen year old he is great this year and I think the biggest thing is probably his position he's never out of position. The part about -- is yeah I mean that is -- the highlight reel ball mid air Superman style. Ball he's he's a fantastic -- and he gets a half a stride on the defensive Chucky five. I he's got that kind of talent as you mentioned just four years of days so he's got a lot more. We traded if I mention his positioning gold -- we'll trust them lined up and that was a shorthanded goal it playable in the coming up he's also seen. In time of the pop up this from the from a guy who just barely out of this team's rise as high praise for him and he still has tons of upside us.
