The panel of SportsTalk Live share their thoughts on the Bears signing Martellus Bennett and react to the breaking news of Jermon Bushrod agreeing to a deal with the Bears - 3/12
Multiple reports moments go through the Bears had to -- Carolina a big way. They have signed former Saints tackled your -- Busch -- to a long term deal reportedly over five years. He's reunited with Bears offensive coordinator at all like who were -- -- -- Who was the -- so my coach joining us now CSN Chicago back -- John moon mullet. Okay we've been screaming for this offensive line to be upgraded for. At least two years and German Busch -- how good get is this for the left tackles. I think it's a huge get them literally and figuratively. If you think back to one of the things that has built there been part of the bears' success. Think the major free agency strike that made member John -- Was kind of the anchor what turned out -- that's Super Bowl offensive line and that was a good big strike in free agency. A tough transition player now he's gone I'm gone a Pro Bowl guy who actually became a Pro Bowl is a fourth round draft choice and error -- -- enormous tournament to somebody. So I think this is a a huge position -- get -- -- frees up. Jamarcus Webb maybe goes back to -- a longer look at right tackle. Take a lot of pressure on Jay Cutler a lot of the rest of life. So -- -- move to guard but he -- the end of the season. Yeah or he may have swing -- on your head conspiracy in the kind of played both not necessarily very well but can get a lot the -- discussions -- his -- was right. You know somebody they they're now in a pretty much better position because it kind of -- everybody you're putting -- the top which means jamarcus Webb doesn't have to be your best offensive line. Right now if you're the Bears had this -- drafted got a tight end now you don't have Minnesota gonna Tyler -- for it and you've got an offensive line -- -- such a wasted on that my -- but. What do you just go for the best available to get another lineman I mean weren't you or trade down or do you tray down went into -- that's exactly beauty those are options now. Whereas I think revealed half an hour ago he was ever got to -- about his employment so you know that this leads the -- the Bears draft -- we started today. So in the knees have been dialed down a key positions really keepers were talking about becoming -- that not a new offense entirely but. A West Coast scheme which uses -- -- at which has to depend office -- -- keeping your quarterback upright so they really addressed I would call to skill position. But John had the year bodies in bodies out our we've got two bodies then. There's some name players from last year's last few years roster that are not going to be here. I'm Brian Urlacher is obviously at the top of the list is he back in if he is is in -- it is who isn't gonna come back. -- -- that's that is like the call and almost a franchise question because I felt both on and off and so my colleagues have felt on and off he's back he's not back. You know the fact that the Bears haven't come out just said you know look. Good -- -- and come with some teams did just let the guys who are on the market sooner what was done -- -- both sides -- proposal on the table it wasn't what each one of the year. You handle this right and Brian -- the market. To what you got let's talk again let's not start closing door that's what's happened. Now the question really is can you afford both Brian Urlacher and Nick Roach if you have to make a decision which one of those guys to OK if you had to make that the -- when you keep. You go to station for good. I get excited and as well will be writer you know that that the do you go with Bryant who's a coach on the field for transition. Time with the new. Coordinator or Nick Roach who could play both positions to me is terrorist or pointing up in that will be extremely difficult extremism. How much of that decision is Brian Urlacher decision whether he wants to come back or not and whether he's willing to accept whatever money is out there and and if it -- Urlacher drive that decision. What if you don't you drive by how much you're willing to take. You know and I think we're talking -- remark about whether or not. Does he wanna stay in Chicago but I don't really know I know he was very close -- Lovie Smith so what is the people were saying it's Lovie Smith back Bryant's -- back. Right now I don't know if he's if he's offered. -- have probably not these corporate three probably. The -- left tackle a great obviously huge -- on the tight end up great huge too. Martellus Bennett had more catches TDs that the entire tight end core last year combined but the rap on him early. Was that he was -- lazy was counting how did that change when he got with the Giants and -- I'm sure the Bears have I had done all their betting on this and. Made sure everything's good but two -- contract here come and go about that because cynically but possibly. It's amazing how good guys get when there and -- nothing Henry -- to death but there's a good example we have guys. And maybe all the lights came on May -- was at the better quarterback drew Eli Manning is -- Giants fan protests a little better than Tony Romo just thought. But yet he's not only more than the Bears he has more items are shooting more catches last year than either Kellen Davis formats they have their career. Was so I -- significant upgrade at six foot six inch past catcher. Really what did unfortunately nothing has Greg Olsen but maybe this is bigger version of them. Part how much credit venture would be deep dealing out to Phil Emery because last year was you -- get a playmaker wide receiver. He got a pro ball he got an all pro Brandon Marshall now we're screaming you've got to get left tackle fix that hole that's been there for. Cool note how long. He gets to -- bush track you gotta get a tie I tied and it can make plays that Kellen Davis he gets Martellus Bennett he deserves some credit here. You -- government's -- you know they've let -- that is what would you having yet. What else I -- needs another offensive linemen yeah probably are most definitely and I did either linebacker or linebacker. Probably a safety. Let's see how it always -- this first reported that -- amounts of loses into the you know maybe another wide receiver -- well I mean I would I would go volley and was just I just watched him again. The Bill Polian said the Chicago Bears have to get a play making -- to make plays down the field a speedster he's in if they do that they fixed their line. The sky's the limit well. It and I would add to that I would respond the Bears which. Got Brandon Marshall traded up to get out -- Jeffrey re signed and he's a possession -- Boasts a committee orange possession guy down the -- it is ever got to that featured on talk up a bit burner but you can win with. Anquan Boldin would because this is as a -- all the Torrey Smith might be. Yeah give a bit. He you can win with multiple combinations and you've got. Your top three in place and you won't get so much money you spend you wanna use up money and at that position for me of somebody who might -- bent out. Or investing in a linebacker or some other need position although I wouldn't put -- their group just does what you've got. As well as -- hard because -- back -- quarterback is Jason Campbell coming back Brian Fitzpatrick hit the market today. If you put back money -- -- say who wants it then there's -- 45 guys the other Campbell was a great fit with Cutler. You know look good clubhouse guy. If you look at three have Milliken did last year but that's that's a position -- it's not important to your quarterback down. Okay you guys degrade the pressure has just gone up exponentially on. Jay Cutler sure yet because he's not got a tight end he's got an all pro receiver he's got a big time all pro or Pro Bowl left tackle. You got collier toys body you better produce the other complaints are gone they're all moot point now you've got it all -- Start living up to the rough in the Cutler follows you're running out of excuses now. Nobody -- let him down that -- -- brought in Denver -- you know media I -- basher but that's been you know we used to -- people made excuses for this. And you need to take some ownership here and your right gap he's got. It's hard to say how many more pieces you need that don't I commuted on the ball.
