Could the Cubs actually move out of Wrigley. In day exclusive interview that I had with mayor Brad Stevens of -- it's only has 25 acres of -- is willing to give the Cubs. For a brand new stadium. Right off of Balmoral and 294. He said our amusement tax the Cubs take twelve in the city county. We're three and I'll go lower than that I have to at least that we wanna get a deal done just bring the bricks and ivy okay that's when you hear that. He's set their pro business whatever it takes let's get this deal done. We didn't get that can be tough for the ball parks and 29 before them like yeah. I'm -- I'm sure case that would go through the rooftop owners not want to for all. -- -- we wouldn't have been very that it could have rooftops on -- with 29490 were initially took it right up to 94. It's never gonna happen to a point you know there would be there would be insurrection or Patterson and we those are the Cubs with the Cubs mystique is gone are the Cubs a much different organization on the White Sox that if they move. -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- I I I agree with you are now. I think it's it's nice of them to have any kind of leverage. The Cubs -- I really don't think the Cubs have much leverage. At all John knows that better than an average better than -- you get moved to Saint Petersburg. Exactly right which we remember. You realize the amount of money they lead on the table every year yes. Between -- an attack like they loses college they know slightly thin air atop the great. Amusement tax 12% to three that's a lot of money they've paid seventeen million last year night game restrictions they get about a million dollars more per night game. The average team plays 57 that's 17 million OK lots of cited -- talk to different marketing people who sell sign they said. You look at somewhere twenty to thirty million dollars okay. Let's hear a hundred million OK let's let's talk about the fall and Allstate arena. Is that the risk for hold on him and are you comparing the Allstate arena the DePaul Blue Demons. To that -- -- I'm saying that that that people don't want to DePaul games in the numbers they might if I was in a better location. Different that's you know again how much money with the Cubs be losing and they weren't in -- for -- -- Allstate arena vs a state of the art brand new -- -- or is it or is it wrong for me to ask how this story began how it happened. I think I don't I don't want you to to tell me your sources. Where did this come from. I heard some rumors that I talked with the mayor okay. Okay now the -- that the money they leave on the table I had I had heard about this and seen it calculator. You have to. Then understand that the reason they get money at all. With some dreadful teams IE last year with a lot of the Wrigley Field because there every refueled so they can have all the signings they want. It's a special place here with what third rickets family needs to Australia how to make Wrigley unique and -- -- themselves. Why in the world do they make is horrible deal with the rooftop owners really only get seventy -- -- -- -- that was there when they took over okay Jeremy took over but they should know everything that's going on when they took over and they should be looking to buy. Every single building around Wrigley Field it's like. And up top five or ten payroll in Major League Baseball camp you heard them that much and they're building the farm system knowledge is really what they need to do to build a winning team to have. A championship at Wrigley Field on the ballparks even a factor for. The other did the ballpark needs a 500 million dollar renovation if you include the health club and hotel across the street need to do all of that they wanna do all of that to -- right up there there's literally 300 million unique to the and I think -- right that's it if you're Cubs fans that's really not your problem that's that's their problem if they want to find. And I think that. That that's. Not true. Well I love Wrigley it's a dump of course oh yeah absolutely many of you know -- don't and it's got to be remodeled okay that that's that's fine but don't don't say it's because we we want to have -- don't help -- be a better team that that's just not true that is true how how much better how much more money to spend what the Dodgers -- -- -- -- favorite to win their division this year you and resented it when I think OK I interviewed Albert -- -- Scott -- -- never -- -- facilities -- awful I'd never go there on their other players. That feel that way. Yes but you -- I think gave let's go back to this is business look at the -- scrimmage very shrewd very intelligent they've all got mastered. Doctor told us that they've made a ton of money they're billionaires there's a group -- -- rickets family trust or whatever. They knew what they revived through other bidders if you don't look at the hows your mind before you buy it is or mold in the basement. He -- roof -- -- a foundation cracked when the year before that and they're not fools just have put money in. But this. The Cubs are more than just. Another baseball team they're not like any other team and I like the Rangers or they're not like he's. Teams to play and ball malls and if you wanted to go to Rosemont then you -- -- realized I was you're like everybody else I listen right are you offended by. The idea of the rooftop owners and the -- Absolutely I was at the beginning it's like stealing from what I've tried to move -- stealing food from a restaurant it's like. It's crazy I you know I used to live in the area next -- up on the -- you don't within. He won it for free you know just a flat level on one of those right there by -- murder Murphy's. Anders had like that when I was raised bleachers. Yeah -- respect he was -- -- right. Okay. But it was there -- -- just -- upset on a folding chair know recharge and money you have to know somebody who lived in the building of one of the perks to living on waiver under. We're Sheffield which was kinda cool. But whoever thought that you could. Steal the product going on what -- over it's like -- a periscope and look at that and I who would wanna steal the product and whenever losing that I forgot that orbit pretty much any hear him. They could've bought everything around -- oh my god he could have made Six Flags. Over Wrigley Field. There can't take that 300 million buyout all the rooftop owners. You still need to redo your ballpark our prayers and I did okay he is Rosemont getting played here. I don't think so because they haven't put any money out there just thrown out there that we got this land. And will make a deal did -- with the tires. Love Rosemont right I mean he's promoting Rosemont and you know. What what were the Cubs -- the White Sox who's gonna move to Addison for awhile somebody in the early with the White Sox and yeah okay in the Bears are going to be everybody's gonna movie needs some leverage is reclusive but. But what can hit at the refs are. I think it is supposed to do -- horse up in the highrise let's say play ball all of them and tonight of course and with that told you hillside -- -- -- -- -- -- -- It would sat here and I know he's got I think I guess -- fumes coming off. But if they drafted brand new Wrigley Field -- yes the similar scoreboard but all the modern amenities. And they dropped in a team that would win her that Javier Baez and starling Castro and five great starters and all of a sudden they're one of the better teams that know what everyone complained in New York you can't get rid of the house that Ruth built until they built the better ones when it's like crying my neighborhood yeah. Right across the street and I you know I've been to Yankee stated -- wanna bunch of guys. Talk about a -- it had no charm and on motives it's a big circle. Really fielders like it it's a -- yes we all know that but it's really special don't and it's -- -- -- -- of fun neighbor. -- what does it say when you have a man who's willing to spend 500 million in the neighborhood maybe he's not asking for one dollar of government money. And you have people who steal his product basically go and not not gonna let you do it shows who people are evil. And they should know where they're so that you blame him at some point if he steps up and goes. I'm meeting with Rosemont tomorrow Arlington Heights on Tuesday Wednesday I'm going to Schaumburg note that that's has been positive and take this seriously what at what point do you taken seriously that he might actually do that. So as if I'm leaving here I know that there's I cannot I don't see this. Sammy Sosa will be drive and a you know Tom -- the element there. Hit it he's got to realize it's called as you point out it's called Wrigley Field for a reason you know that when your comes -- there's a very good point you made her think that way and I know that. It's between you -- me I wouldn't tell the world at large spread out. It is special because of Wrigley Field and those people around him better realize that you take -- Wrigley Field. Reynolds said Wrigley Field doesn't have this charm minister not sure that it has got all of those bars and everything up and under from sluggers all up and down Clark. All the Mexican places -- every. Ethnic restaurant you could possibly want within a -- that place. They're all looking you know that we don't have that business we want cared so he should take that and consider the Sox moved to -- -- -- wide open nobody -- plan all that would be. That would be incredible women put a cap -- just yet we just. Keel over right there with an -- purpose -- Maybe northwestern could take it Wrigley Field this play all games there. Pretty good. No. They've ended their few games and there I still they go get a deal -- with the city but this isn't nice I'll -- do you think the Cubs are gonna talk to Rosemont. I think of April 1 comes which is their deadline they said to have every all the everything ordered to make it started in October November whenever they're going to. And that the deadline passes and it still back Bernard yeah I would think they would be big you know. If you're records Tom -- and infused the front man he should have been talking everywhere he went leverage because -- but he stayed loyal to that community well probably ought to do all the point right he probably should have. You gotta have leverage of some. Warm and you have to have leverage and you go under -- meeting in. And the -- residents want everything and not willing to concede anything. I think would have Poteat hotel would be the greatest thing of all people who thought the yum yum donut shop. The end of the McDonald's and some folks gross little tissue places are really cool. The wrong. And I mean don't you -- great right. But when you earlier thought about the neighborhood I understand you you wanna make it a lot better than it is so it's a nice option for them to do that and make it better and to bring more people but you know you realize how much they need to renovation -- they don't broke baseball's field product developed for the team yes I don't think they needed them much. I know they're gonna build the Marlins system up they're gonna sign free agents are gonna do all these things that we'll have -- awful facilities at some point it has to be retired no -- to take wins. You know argument. How much do you -- -- field have to be you know beautiful fuel if you're paying them a lot of money they care about what they're getting paid. And remember 81 of the games are on the road gets no pain everywhere. But and how many guys have played and said it mean nothing just have one season playing in Wrigley Field play are these families at the right and how many guys have said. I wanna be the guy I wanna be on that team that wins at all yeah I moved within how many of set I'm not playing in that jump how many of such an outside that's -- yeah I'd bet that our little -- Other than Ozzie and that hasn't been -- tonight I vehicle of except for the field I've never heard I've heard guys. I interviewed pujols he's -- -- never play here he said I and they gambling 175 and I tell enough. He got it somewhere old -- -- Who all -- we have one of camp I agree with you I mean that didn't realize how great the field looking out if you under the radar as you're watching the game at the rest -- it's a dump. I agree.
