Steve Bartman declines invitation from Cubs fans to attend playoff game

It was a nice effort from Cubs fans, but it looks like it won't change Steve Bartman's mind.

After a Cubs fan started a GoFundMe to try and get Bartman to come to the team's playoff game this year, the well-known fan respectfully declined the invitation.

His attorney, Frank Murtha, told USA Today that he still fears for his safety at the wild-card game.

"It only takes one person who’s not wrapped real tight or a couple of bricks short of a full load to pose a security threat," Murtha said.

As of this evening, the GoFundMe page had raised $3,545 for Bartman. Keque Escobedo, who started the page, said if Bartman was unable to be found, the money would go to the Alzheimer's Association.
