Trevor Bauer flirting with wrong Sox on Twitter

White Sox fans on Twitter have dreamed of signing free agent pitcher Trevor Bauer throughout the entire season, especially as starting pitching has become a hole in the White Sox roster. Unfortunately for those fans, it seems Bauer is more into the Sox from Boston.

While this is almost certainly just a silly tweet while Bauer takes an east coast trip, it does make you wonder. No stranger to the splashy move, the Red Sox could certainly use Bauer’s help as they try to build a competitive team again.

Honestly, any team could use Bauer’s help as he posted a 1.73 ERA, 0.795 WHIP and 100 Ks over 11 starts in 2020, including two complete game shutouts. In his one postseason start, he was equally effective, pitching 7.2 scoreless innings with 12 strikeouts against the Braves.

Which brings us back to why White Sox fans are so keen on Bauer in the first place. In the Wild Card round, one could argue that a lack of starting pitching depth was the South Siders undoing. With an extremely short leash on Dane Dunning in Game 3, Rick Renteria needed to burn through his bullpen earlier than he would’ve liked, and it caught up to him by the end of the game. If the White Sox had three starters they could trust going into the series things may have gone differently.

Adding a starter will almost certainly be on Rick Hahn’s radar this offseason, so be on the lookout for any flirtatious tweets from Bauer to the White Sox in the coming months.
