NEW YORK — Patrick Kane scored the team’s first power play goal of the preseason and Andrew Shaw also scored, but the New York Rangers edged the Blackhawks, 3-2, in a shootout on Friday night.

PHILADELPHIA – The Anaheim Ducks eventually won the Ryan Kesler sweepstakes, as the Vancouver Canucks center was traded there on Friday afternoon.

The Ryan Kesler (potential) sweepstakes have garnered plenty of attention in this offseason. And the Chicago Blackhawks apparently continue to be part of the conversation.

Ryan Kesler’s days with the Vancouver Canucks are likely numbered. It’s not surprising to hear or read, given he was oh-so close to being dealt at the trade deadline this past spring.

Many observers would argue that the Blackhawks are in need of a second-line center and have been for a while.

Well, what about Ryan Kesler? Would he fit the bill?
