Chicago Elite Classic brings together IHSA hoops' best

Looking for some of the most competitive high school basketball in the Midwest this winter? Look no further than the fifth annual Chicago Elite Classic.

Twenty-two teams will compete in 11 games over two days in Chicago at the UIC Pavilion, with some of the country's top players competing for bragging rights. Sixteen teams from the Chicagoland area will compete in 2016, along with nationally-ranked schools from Kansas, Georgia, Florida, Missouri, South Carolina and Washington D.C.

Coaches from the event's host schools, Simeon's Robert Smith and Whitney Young's Tyrone Slaughter, sat down with CSN's David Kaplan on SportsTalk Live to discuss the importance of the showcase, which will run Dec. 2 and 3.

"This year again, as we've tried to do the previous four years, we've included some of the best basketball talent in the city of Chicago. But then we reach outside of our borders anda bring in some of the top quality programs across this great country for our citizens of Chicago to view," Slaughter said.

See what else they had to say in the video above, and check out an entire list of the teams competing below.
