Coors Field was covered in hail before the Cubs and Rockies got delayed

The Cubs just endured an 18-inning game Sunday night into Monday morning against the Yankees and soon after they arrived in Denver to play the Rockies on Monday night it started hailing on the field.

It's times like these that social media comes through with the goods. Check out the Rockies official account, CSN Chicago's Kelly Crull and Cubs catcher Miguel Montero tweet out videos of the hail from three hours before the scheduled 6:40 MT start.

The hail covered the field and made the scheduled start look in jeopardy. After the Cubs arrived in Denver in the early hours of the morning and the bullpen pitched 19 2/3 innings in the past two days a delayed or postponed start would probably be a welcome thing.

The grounds crew worked hard to de-hail the field, but alas a delay was announced shortly after 7 p.m. Central.
