Calgary Flames games through at least Dec. 16 will be postponed due to six players entering COVID-19 protocol, the NHL announced on Monday.

The six players, including the teams second-leading scorer Elias Lindholm and one staffer entered the protocol within a 24-hour period causing the schedule to be immediately halted

The NHL stated that the games are postponed because of "concern with continued spread, and the likelihood of additional positive cases in the coming days."

"The decision was made following consultation by the NHL's, the NHLPA's and Club's medical groups."

The Flames were originally slated to face off against the Chicago Blackhawks on Monday night, but with concerns on border issues, the team did not travel to Chicago. If they did make the trip, players and staff members who tested positive would not have been able to come back to Canada without a very lengthy quarantine.

The Calgary's training facility has been closed, effective immediately, and will remain closed until further notice.

The Flames currently sit in second in the Pacific Division at sit 15-7-6 on the season.
