Ever wonder what it'd be like to watch the great Mike "Doc" Emrick call a hockey game?
Now you can.
NBC's lead NHL play-by-play announcer will be featured on HBO in an extensive TV profile Tuesday between 9 and 10 p.m. CT, talking about his legendary broadcasting career and offering a behind-the-scenes look during a live broadcast, which was filmed during the Blackhawks-Rangers contest at the United Center on Opening Night.
"It's a love affair that I have with the sport that I just like going to games and it's a fun way to make a living," Emrick said. "And you get a good seat for the game? And you get in free? What can be better than that?"

Correspondent Andrea Kremer also asks Emrick about his "Doc-isms," referring to the different verbs he uses to describe an action during play.
Even Hall of Fame broadcaster Al Michaels, who called the 'Miracle on Ice' game in the 1980 Winter Olympics, weighed in on his admiration of listening to Emrick call a hockey game.

"When I signed on to do the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver it was the 30th anniversary of the 'Miracle on Ice' and some said to me, including a few writers, 'Well, you know, you should really be doing the hockey in Vancouver,'" Michaels recalled. "And I said, 'Are you crazy? I can't do the game a tenth as well as Doc Emrick. I want to listen to Doc.'"
But nothing described the excitement of listening to Emrick better than this: "If you had a cockroach race in your basement, he'd bring it to life for you," Michaels said, via Rich Chere of NJ.com.
