Jim Covert was one of two Bears' players among the 10 senior candidates that were named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Wednesday morning. Covert was a two-time first-team All-Pro who helped the Bears win six division championships, one conference title and one Super Bowl during his nine seasons. He was part of a Bears' offensive line that led the NFL in rushing for four consecutive seasons (1983-86.)
Shortly after his name was announced, Covert went on 670 The Score to talk about that moment:
"It was really emotional," Covert said Wednesday on the Mully & Haugh Show. "I thought about my dad, my family, my wife, the kids, and all the stuff you have to go through all those years. And then all your teammates and everybody you played with, your coaches, all the way kind of to Pop Warner football and all your buddies from high school. Everything just kind of flashes before you in a quick period of time. You get pretty emotional."

The 20-person Class of 2020 will be in Canton, Ohio, for Enshrinement Week in August. The modern-era players, contributors and coaches will be inducted on Saturday, Aug. 8, while the 10 seniors — including Covert and Ed Sprinkle — will be enshrined during the Hall of Fame's Centennial Celebration Sept. 16-19.
