The Bears began a massive franchise rebuild earlier this year when they changed general managers, from Phil Emery to Ryan Pace, and head coaches, from Marc Trestman to John Fox.
Few expect the Bears to open against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 13 with the identical 53-man roster that was in place at the close of business on Saturday.
If the Bears keep four running backs – something they’ve rarely done without one being a fullback – then some roster decisions won’t have to be made.
