Katie Couric secures on-camera interview with Te'o

Two days after Deadspin broke the news of the Lennay Kekua hoax, Manti Te'o sat down with ESPN's Jeremy Schapp to discuss the timeline of events that took place between him and his online girlfriend over the past few months. But Te'o's representatives insisted no cameras could be in the room and Schapp's recorder was even asked to be turned off at times.

After the interview concluded, countless questions and loose ends still remained, and now another round of explanations will be given. Te'o and his parents have agreed to participate in an on-camera interview on Jan. 24 and will be sitting across from ABC's Katie Couric, according to the New York Times.

The decision to join Couric doesn't come as a surprise as both she and Te'o are represented by the same agency, as reported by Darren Rovell.

In Te'o's initial interview with Schapp, he insisted he played no part in the hoax concocted by California resident Ronaiah Tuiasosopo, who is said to have contacted and apologized to Te'o for the prank.
