Kevin Hayes

Kevin Hayes is headed to the Big Apple.

The Blackhawks' former first-round pick will sign with the New York Rangers after failing to reach a deal in Chicago.

The Blackhawks and Kevin Hayes have officially parted ways after the two sides failed to reach a contract by today's deadline.

At the 2014 Blackhawks Convention, general manager Stan Bowman said he was remaining hopeful that 2010 first-round pick Kevin Hayes would sign with the organization sooner rather than later.

Kevin Hayes sent the message out on Twitter on May 28, in the midst of the Chicago Blackhawks’ Western Conference Final series.

Despite their rough stretch at the end of the January, the Blackhawks are still looking down at 28 other NHL teams in the standings. Only the Anaheim Ducks have a better record than the Hawks.
