On a historic day filled with pomp and circumstance, Chicagoans might have reflexively cheered on their couches while Lady Gaga sang the National Anthem. That’s because Gaga took a page out of Jim Cornelison’s playbook by distinctively pointing at the flag as she belted out “and our flag was still **there**.”
Gaga did live in Chicago for a few years, so there’s a reasonable chance she did pick up Cornelison’s trademark point at a Blackhawks game.
While the crowd gave Gaga a respectable round of applause after her performance, it was certainly not like the roars she would’ve received if Joe Biden’s inauguration had taken place at the United Center.
