Less than 24 hours after being called up by the Cubs, Scott Maine was sent back down to Triple-A Iowa. Maine pitched in Wednesday night's loss to the Phillies, allowing three runs on one hit and not recording a single out. His ERA ballooned to 6.35 on the season.

In his place, the Cubs purchased the contract of right-handed pitcher Blake Parker from Triple-A Iowa. This marks the first time Parker has joined a major league roster during his professional career.

The 26-year-old had a 1-0 record with five saves and a 2.08 ERA in 13 games with Iowa. In his minor league career, Parker is 14-15 with 58 saves and 2.96 ERA in 233 games. He's struck out 332 batters in 316.0 innings pitched. Parker was originally selected in the 16th round of the 2006 draft out of the University of Arkansas.

With the move, the Cubs' 40-man roster stands at 39 players.
