Matt Albers

White Sox reliever Matt Albers underwent surgery on his fractured right pinky finger last week and will now miss six to eight weeks, general manager Rick Hahn revealed Tuesday.

Scott Carroll is back in Chicago and could be an option when the White Sox need a spot starter to take a suspended Chris Sale and/or Jeff Samardzija’s turn in the rotation.

Matt Albers was fully recovered from a 2014 shoulder issue and off to a strong start with the White Sox.

CLEVELAND - The White Sox already are a much better team than they were at any time in 2013 and for much of 2014.
