It was a case of right place, right time for the Blackhawks Sunday night.


It started off so well, with Brandon Saad’s shot lifting and tucking into the top left corner of the Columbus net and giving the Blackhawks a 1-0 lead.


The Blackhawks found themselves in some unfamiliar territory on Tuesday night after getting shut out in back-to-back games for the first time since 2006.


Ben Smith is pretty cognizant of the Central Division standings and where the Blackhawks fall among them. This time of year, he’s that much more aware.
