Northwestern and head coach Pat Fitzgerald just added its second in-state verbal commitment Friday in the Class of 2018.

Lincoln-Way East four-star ranked defensive end Devin O'Rourke (6-foot-6, 230 pounds) has decided to end his recruiting process, giving the Wildcats his verbal commitment.

"When I visited Northwestern last weekend it really sold me," O'Rourke said. "Between seeing what a degree from Northwestern can do for you after graduation to the family feel within the football program, I was sold so I committed."

O'Rourke is currently the highest ranked in-state verbal commitment for the Wildcats since the Class of 2014. Both (Glenbard North) running back Justin Jackson and (Wheaton North) quarterback Clayton Thorson also ranked as four-star recruits, according to the Rivals.com Class of 2014 final rankings.

O'Rourke joins New Trier three-star ranked tight end Brian Kaiser (6-foot-7, 220 pounds) in giving the Wildcats a verbal commitment Friday in the Class of 2018.

O'Rourke is now the sixth known overall verbal commitment for Northwestern and is also the fourth known in-state pledge. O'Rourke and Kaiser joins Dunlap three-star ranked tight end Charlie Mangieri and Libertyville three-star ranked offensive linemen Charlie Schmidt in the Northwestern 2018 recruiting class.
