The oldest event in golf has returned to Royal St. George’s Club for the 2021 Open Championship this weekend. The 149th edition of the tournament will feature a star-studded field, as over 150 of the world’s best golfers compete in the final major championship this year.
After Saturday’s round, the same three golfers lead the pack as did going into the weekend: Louis Oosthuizen in first at -12, with Collin Morikawa just one stroke back and Jordan Spieth at -9. The three were tied with several holes to go, but even with Spieth’s bogeys on the final two holes providing some separation, Sunday will be an intriguing finish.
Oosthuizen is chasing his second major championship 11 years after winning the Open at St. Andrew’s. Spieth has won three majors, including the 2017 Open at Royal Birkdale. This would be Morikawa’s second major and first Open following his victory at the PGA Championship last year.
