Pass interference challenges off the books for 2020 NFL season

One of the least popular NFL rule changes is off the books after only one season.

Rich McKay, chairman of the NFL Competition Committee, joined Sirius XM’s NFL Radio channel and announced that coaches would no longer be able to challenge pass interference calls — or the lack thereof.

“Noboby’s putting forward the OPI/DPI review again, so that dies a natural death,” McKay said.

McKay later said OPI/DPI reviews were doomed from the outset because it's hard to judge a subjective foul.

According to the Washington Post, there were 101 interference-related replays last season, leading to 24 overturned on-field decisions. But many questionable, head-scratching decisions stood, like the now infamous moment DeAndre Hopkins was draped by a defender in the end zone.

While a missed call can be frustrating for fans to watch, it’s doubtful that many of them will miss these replays.
