The Detroit Lions are not only on the cover of the upcoming Sports Illustrated, but defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh is declaring, Nobodys seen a specimen like myself.

He does qualify it by stating that he hates to say it that way but it kind of is that way.

Suh predicted the Lions would go 16-0 last season (which he presumably didnt hate to say) so he is hardly a stranger to overstatement.

He was the No. 2 overall pick of the 2010 draft and managed to draw a fine for a hit of Jay Cutler when the teams faced each other, which he considers a wrong call but one of those things that just happen because of how amazing he is.

When you combine speed and power, Suh says, things are going to look bad when I hit somebody.

Something for guards Chris Williams and Chris Spencer to look forward to Monday night.

Numbers-gaming

The Lions are the only team ranked in the top eight in points scored (No. 2, 135) and fewest allowed (No. 8, 76). Theyre also tied fior second in the NFL in takeaways with 11.

Award-winner

While voting plays out for Matt Fortes prospects to be named FedEx Ground player of the week, Devin Hester, in true Devin Hester style, isnt waiting around. Hester has been named the NFC Special Teams Player of the Week after his 69-yard punt return for an NFL-record 11th touchdown and a 73-yard kickoff return.

By now this is standard stuff for the greatest returner in league history. It is the 10th time Hester has won the award, most ever by a return specialist.

Positive thinking

GM Jerry Angelo has decided, after the review of the Carolina game, that it wasnt so much a case of the Bears defense being bad as the Panthers quarterback being so good.

Cam Newton eluded the rush about as well as Ive ever seen, Angelo told ChicagoBears.com, recalling difficulties the Bears have had with Tony Romo and Michael Vick. But Cam Newton might be the best of them all in that regard, so Ive got to give him credit.
