#TBT: White Sox Mark Buehrle pitches a perfect game against Joe Maddon's Rays

Weird stuff has to happen for a pitcher to get a perfect game. I mean, weird.

So you can bet some strange happenings went down six years ago at U.S. Cellular Field when Mark Buehrle tossed a perfect game against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Dewayne Wise, who was brought in in the 9th inning as a defensive replacement, made this catch in the final frame to rob Gabe Kapler of a home run.

Kapler never stood a chance.

Ramon Castro played in only 91 games for the White Sox over three years and one of them happened to be behind the plate of a perfect game.

Josh Fields played five years in the majors and hit just 34 home runs but none might have been bigger than his grand slam in the 2nd inning against Rays' starter Scott Kazmir to give the South Siders the lead for good.

There's also a new Chicago connection to what went down on July 23, 2009: Cubs manager Joe Maddon was the skipper of the Rays the day Buehrle tossed his perfect game.

In fact, Maddon has become a perfect-game magnet as of late. Three of the last four perfect games in the American League came against the Rays when Maddon was at the helm.

It's time to embrace the weird even more:

Enjoy the final out again, White Sox fans.
