The Cubs celebrated the beginning of the holiday season on Thursday by hosting their annual tree-lighting ceremony and toy drive outside of the Cubs Store near Wrigley Field.
The Cubs notched 97 wins, beat the Pirates in an unforgettable wild-card game and went through almost 500 bottles of champagne after eliminating the hated Cardinals at Wrigley Field.
It felt like no one wanted to leave Wrigley Field on Tuesday night, “Go Cubs Go” and “Sweet Home Chicago” playing on a loop after this rising team planted a “W” flag in October.
Whether or not the Cubs got here a year ahead of schedule, they have a star manager, a dynamic lineup anchored by MVP and Rookie of the Year candidates and the hottest pitcher on the planet.
On the other side of the visiting clubhouse, you could hear “Joy to the World” blasting from the manager’s office on Sunday afternoon at Miller Park.
