VCU coach Shaka Smart joined "The Dan Patrick Show" on Monday to talk about the team's surprising run to the Final Four.

Smart talked about Selection Sunday when the Rams were on the bubble. I did not get the whole team together, because I thought it could go either way, Smart said.

Smart said that he knew all along he had a good chance of reaching the Final Four.

Smart said that being in the play-in against USC helped them get rolling. It gave us confidence, Smart said. It got the NCAA Tournament jitters out.

Smart talked about some of the advantages he has being only 33. I have a lot of energy, Smart said. I have the ability to relate to our guys. It wasnt too long ago I was in college.

Smart, who quoted Major League after beating Kansas, said quotes are his biggest hobby. He said his favorite quote is from his wife: Appreciation is the currency of success. But he also said he really likes to quote Scarface.
