After waiting more than a half-season to play each other, it didn't take long for the White Sox-Tigers rivalry to heat up.
In the finale of the first series of 2013, Chris Sale brushed back Tigers slugger Prince Fielder. Detroit apparently took exception with that, as reliever Luke Putkonen hurled a fastball behind Alexei Ramirez later in the game.
That led Ramirez to walk toward the mound, prompting both dugouts and bullpens to clear and pour onto the field.
Order was eventually restored and no punches were thrown. But Putkonen and Tigers manager Jim Leyland were ejected, while no Sox player or coach received such a fate. That launched Leyland into a tirade:
Just think: These two teams have 16 more matchups this season.
