Chris Sale has firmly planted himself in the AL Cy Young race, but at the same time he's overshadowed just how good Jose Quintana has been for the White Sox. Like Sale, his win-loss numbers (7-6) don't do him justice, but he can improve on what has been a hot end to the season when he faces the Minnesota Twins tonight on Comcast SportsNet. Coverage begins at 7 p.m., with Postgame Live to follow.

Though the 24-year-old Quintana is just 1-2 in his last six starts, he's been dealt some rough hands over the stretch. One of his losses came after he allowed one earned run in one inning against the Yankees. He was pulled from the game after a lengthy rain delay and wound up with the loss despite throwing just 20 pitches. His other loss came in Baltimore, when he allowed three runs over seven innings against a powerful Orioles lineup -- his offense scored once in the 3-1 defeat.

So while his record hasn't been stellar, his other numbers have been. In that six-start stretch, Quintana has a 2.97 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP, which should have yielded him more than one win. In his last start Wednesday against the Tigers, he threw seven shutout innings but received a no-decision, as the offense failed to provide him any runs in an eventual 1-0 loss.

But there's optimism that tonight he can pick himself up win No. 8. The White Sox finally broke their losing streak thanks to a strong outing from rookie Erik Johnson -- who picked up career win No. 1 -- beating Minnesota 12-1. Quintana faced the Twins in back-to-back starts in August, going 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA. The latter start, his win, yielded 6.2 innings of two-run baseball with seven strikeouts.

While the White Sox are out of the playoff race, the youngsters are still getting a feel for the game. That includes Quintana, who can continue his impressive season to carry momentum into the 2014 season. See if he can do that tonight on Comcast SportsNet, and stay interactive throughout the game on White Sox Pulse, using #WhiteSoxTalk to join the conversation.

And don't forget that Cubs fans can catch tonight's game between the North Siders and Milwaukee Brewers on CSN+, with coverage starting at 6:30 p.m.
