DETROIT — The White Sox have acquired minor-league reliever Frank De Los Santos from Tampa Bay on Saturday for a player to be named or cash.
De Los Santos, who has a 4.89 ERA in 30 minor-league appearances this season, was on the Rays’ 40-man roster and has been added to the White Sox 40-man but won’t report to the big league club per a team official.
The left-hander had a 2.11 ERA in 51 appearances last season between Double-A Montgomery and Triple-A Durham.
De Los Santos, 25, has 406 strikeouts in 612 2/3 innings in the minors and a career 4.04 ERA.
The trade is unrelated to a July deal that sent Jesse Crain to Tampa Bay for a player to be named later or cash.
The move brings the White Sox 40-man roster to 40.
