While Mets pitcher Matt Harvey was easing through the White Sox line up to a near perfect game, it was the pitch before the start of the game that will be remembered the most.

Gary Green, the owner of the Omaha Storm Chasers, the AAA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals, lofted the ceremonial first pitch so far over the catcher’s head that the ball shattered the camera protector glass behind home plate.

Green, who purchased the minor league team with other managing partners in late 2012, is a lifelong Mets fan and was at Game 6 of the 1986 World Series for the infamous Bill Buckner error.

The Mets would go on to beat the White Sox 1-0 in 10 innings on Tuesday.
