With seven games remaining in the regular season and Tampa Bay clinging to a wild card spot, Jesse Crain is finally ready to pitch.
The White Sox traded Crain to Tampa Bay on July 29 in a complex deal contingent on how many innings the right-hander, who was on the disabled list when the trade was made, pitched for the Rays. At the time of the deal it was expected Crain would pitch for the Rays in August, but he suffered a few setbacks while recovering from a shoulder strain.
Crain represented the White Sox at the All-Star Game in July and has a 0.74 ERA in 37 innings this year. The 31-year-old will be a free agent after the season.
