ARLINGTON, Texas — Adam Eaton is expected to return to the lineup on Saturday night after he left the series-opener early.
White Sox manager Robin Ventura said the center fielder suffered a lower body injury, perhaps to his left hamstring, when Eaton singled in the first inning and awkwardly hit first base while rounding the bag.
With Friday’s decision out of hand, Ventura pulled Eaton after the fifth inning to get him rest and treatment. Eaton had been on the field for 146 of 147 innings for the White Sox this season before he exited Friday’s game.
“He looked awkward,” Ventura said. “Seeing him run around out there, every once in a while he’d take an odd step. I just wanted to get him out and get him treated and he’ll be back in tomorrow. ... We couldn’t tell. We’d stretch it and he’d grab the front and then he’d grab the back. It’s kind of lower extremity. Left side.”
