Another month, another monthly award for Jose Abreu.
Abreu was again named American League Player of the Month and Rookie of the Month, this time for the month of July, the second time this year he's won both awards in the same month.
While the announcement that Abreu is a monthly award winner is getting to be a fairly routine procedure, there's been nothing boring about his recent performance. Abreu hit .374 in the month of July with a .432 on-base percentage, a .667 slugging percentage, 11 doubles, six homers, 19 RBIs. He picked up at least one hit in 24 of 25 July games, leading the AL in average, doubles, slugging percentage, OPS, extra-base hits and total bases.
