DETROIT -- If there’s any change in the White Sox starting rotation for Thursday, Robin Ventura isn’t aware of it.
The White Sox manager said late Wednesday that John Danks, the subject of several trade rumors, is still his scheduled starter for the team’s series finale against the Detroit Tigers on Thursday afternoon.
Trade reports have suggested Danks could land with the Yankees in New York or the Miami Marlins as well as a few other spots. But Ventura said he expects the trade deadline to come and go without much action for the White Sox.
“At this point I expect the faces we have in there I’ll see in the next few days,” Ventura said. “So just keep playing.”
Last season the White Sox scratched Jake Peavy the night before he was scheduled to make a start leading up to the trade deadline. The move was made to not only buy the White Sox more time but also afford whatever team acquired him --- in this case the Boston Red Sox --- the chance to start Peavy immediately. In preparation for a possible trade of Jon Lester, the Red Sox scratched him from making a start Tuesday night.
The trade deadline is at 3 p.m. CST on Thursday.
