For the first time in a while, the White Sox have a core of young, exciting position players -- a core that's headlined by outfielders Avisail Garcia and Adam Eaton. The development of both players appears key for the future of the franchise, and count Paul Konerko on board as someone who's excited for what's next.

"Eaton is the guy that can make things go if he hits his stride," Konerko said on a conference call Wednesday with White Sox season ticket holders. "A guy like Eaton can be a someone who is a complete steal because of the tools he has. He can be a real mainstay."

As for Garcia, who Konerko played with after the White Sox acquired him in the Jake Peavy trade last July: "Garcia has as much power as anyone I’ve seen in the last 10 years. If he really gets it, he can be a monster. He could be a big-time threat.”

The White Sox added to that core this week, too, picking up third baseman Matt Davidson from Arizona for closer Addison Reed.
