Paul Konerko was in the CSN studios Thursday and sounded off on former teammate Frank Thomas' Hall of Fame election.
"It wasn't surprising at all," Konerko said. "If he didn't go in, then why even have [the Hall of Fame]? One of the top 3-4 hitters of all time if you look at it...It's kinda cool to say I played with a Hall of Famer."
Konerko went on to talk about his 2014 season, saying he envisions his role as a guy to play against left-handed pitchers or in a pinch-hit capacity.
"I don't ever want to say 'no' to [manager Robin Ventura]," Konerko said. "If he needs me to pinch-hit or needs me to play...I want to just be ready."
The White Sox captain also touched on his future after his playing career is over (which could be after 2014), mentioning a possible coaching role in the future. He did, however, rule out any media opportunities, at least for the time being.
