Strengths

Fastball touches 95 mph and sits between 89-93 with good life down in the strike zone; changeup has become a weapon; though his slider isn’t the power pitch it once was he can still get groundballs with it.

Weaknesses

Some scouts believe he needs to ditch his curve in order for slider to become dominant again to have chance to be a No. 2 starter, though even without can still be a back-end starter or middle reliever.

He said it

On how adjustments to his strength and conditioning have helped: “A lot of my ability came back. I just lifted the wrong way. Not necessarily the wrong way, just a couple of things I tweaked. Now I’m probably 13 pounds lighter than I was coming into last spring training … It was just easier. Everything was effortless.”
